This is the little Ekko/Jinx moment that's been sticking with me:
Because on first watch, I expected this was going to be something negative. Ekko trying to defend why he'd been so hostile to Powder. 'You're not the kind of person who helps... because you destroy things,' or something to that effect.
But no.
oh
What a way to look at Jinx?? Even with everything she's done... He looks at this well-adjusted, 'ideal' Powder, and still thinks she's missing something that his Jinx has. The Powder that he knew was so determined to make something that mattered... it's a Powder who's content to play second-fiddle to the people around her, a Powder that settles that feels off to him.
And that ties into why he can't stay here. Our Ekko isn't the kind of person who settles either.
Genius and madness
Jinx character study!
Omg guys??? The eye movement??? Are you telling me Jayce is alive in there??? And are you telling me this means Viktor chills with him so he won’t be alone for eternity???
Now that the show’s ended, who’s your fav character of the series?
Jinx
Vi
Caitlyn
Viktor
Jayce
Mel
Ekko
Sevika
Silco
Vander
Isha
Other (comment your fav!)
My personal fav is Sevika! I’ve never seen a character written with such a nuanced view on loyalty, and her switch up between Vander and Silco and Jinx was very intriguing to watch.
And here’s my top 5 list!
1. Sevika
2. Jinx
3. Jayce
4. Ekko
5. Caitlyn
Honorable mentions are definitely Viktor, Mel and Vi (though I’m still a bit bummed with how they did her character in season 2; analysis here)
Screenshotting every Arcane S2 intro variation I could find (in order) (🚨 spoilers ahead 🚨)
Thanks to Raecast on yt for putting these side by side!
Someone has probably done this but now I have too :D
This scene... Rewatching this made me realize this is an underrated emotional moment.
Memes aside about episode 7 and the juxtaposition between Jayce and Ekko + Heimerdinger, Jayce's struggle to survive and climb out of the pit all alone and greatly injured made me tear up.
We started his arc not just being an ambitious young man with big dreams, but he at one point wanted to end his life. Now we reach the part of his journey where he realizes his mistakes and claws his way desperately out of the pit to survive and live.
The resolution of him abandoning his old dreams (i.e. the hammer) and using it to create his brace represents how much he values his life over his dreams. I don't know... I just find it a good analogy to mental health and his development from wanting to end his life to doing everything he can to keep it. And I find that so beautiful.
i just wanna point out that when she was trying to off herself in act 3, she most likely kept trying every single time because she thought he was a hallucination
she already hallucinated him once (don’t remember the episode, but you can hear his voice saying ‘jinx’ when she finds out isha is in stillwater)
she hasn’t seen him since the bridge scene (s01e07) when she set off a bomb, intending to off both him and herself (which she did because she was content with her last moments being with him but we won’t get into that rn)
so when ekko said that about blowing ‘us’ up, she likely realized if he was real, she would kill him if she set off the bomb
which is why she settled for jumping. hi. i hope everyone is as miserable as i am rn
also do you think ekko thought of alternate universe powder when he saw her with short hair
Didn’t think of this! Such an interesting take. Probably explains why one of the times she set off the bomb, she didn’t say anything.
obsessed with vi seeing jinx being a big sister to isha the way that vi could never be to jinx. seeing beautiful murals picturing jinx and vander together, heroes of zaun's resistance - the role a younger vi would've seen herself as.
vi realising that while she was in prison, the world moved on without her. realising powder didn't die when she started killing people, powder died when she stopped needing vi. and vi realising whatever role she used to fill - big sister, leader, protector - jinx has done a far better job at it than vi ever did.
Heimerdinger's legacy in the form of his three greatest pupils in one image.
"He realised nothing he could accomplish could compare to the contributions of his students"
These are the top 5 most played songs from Arcane on YouTube right now. What’s your fav song of s2?
Ashes and Blood
Sucker
Ma Meilleure Enemie
Remember Me
Heavy Is The Crown
None of the above (comment your fav!)
My personal favs per act:
Act 1 - Sucker
Act 2 - Remember Me
Act 3 - Tied between Ma Meilleure Enemie and The Line
Honorable mention: 這樣很好 (Isha’s Song)
I loved that fight
Might : Fighting with a knife in her stomach, taking hits like that, and still continuing the battle
Vision : Analyzing Ambessa and her weakness
Guile : pulling the knife out of her own stomach to use it and then sacrifice 👁️
It’s really awesome.
Seeing these two get along healed something in me 😭 they were just hating on each other like siblings do when they’re younger, but in the end, they’re still family
"always a dance with you"
This scene reminded me of that little dance scene between Harry and Hermione. It's such a simple scene but that's what makes it so powerful. Amidst chaos and war, a scene where two characters who struggle through trauma can have a short moment of happiness is so refreshing and that's why this is one of my favorite episodes of the series.
Um actually Vander isn't fully gone (the complete proof) (HEAVY SPOILERS)
spoilers for the entirety of arcane s2 obviously watch it if you haven't or don't if you care about your mental health
Although we see his memories/emotions get acetoned away in s2e7s final scene, and the following battle with his kids has him attacking them pretty rabidly.
But wait...
Tumblr compressed this image to hell, so you'll just have to trust me.
If you look closely as he lunges at Vi and Jinx, a tear appears in his right eye (not previously seen)
We can see it better after Jinx hits him with her rocket.
After Vik gets Jayced we see these tears on full display. The size of the tears is significantly larger, so we can assume they were spilled as Warwick corrupted the girls with void magic, indicating some amount of awareness.
Of course immediately after the screencap above Warwick attacks Vi, Jinx does a side slam and the father daughter duo barely get caught by Vi's gauntlet
Jinx and Vander plummet to their presumed deaths (they are both alive, but for drama’s sake, let's pretend). Vander/Warwick doesn't attack Jinx despite her being entirely in his grasp.
He could shred her right then and there. A mindless beast would, he doesn't.
Vander holds Jinx gently, he doesn't dig into her flesh, he just holds her and lets Jinx cup his face.
We see a flashback of Vander watching the girls sleep. Since he is the only conscious one in this situation this implies is that it is not Vi's or Jinxes memory, only Vanders.
Reader, you might think, well how the hell does he remember anything didn't he get mind wiped an episode ago. To that I respond I don't fucking know, but arcane is VERY intentional with its details and nothing else makes sense.
Jinx escapes, this isn't even subtle. She does so BEFORE the bomb blows. In no universe would Jinx break Warwicks grip, hell, she's toast if any stronger character grabs her (fe. Ambessas bodyguard). Do you know what that implies??
Since Warwick wasn't incapacitated at that point, HE WILLINGLY LET HER GO. He used the last shreds of humanity to give his daughter a second chance at life.....
I AM NOT OK
Below there's the more speculative part I'm not sure of.
