I'm just going to pin the main Good Omens song of the day playlist here because why not I guess? If anyone has any suggestions let me know, any genre, if I like it and I think it fits, I'll add it. I'm up to almost 400 songs now but I'll need twice that at least I think to post everyday until S3!

(the playlist is not in the order the GOSOTD have been posted. It's more pre ineffable divorce, then post ineffable divorce, then hopeful ineffable reunion. The SOTD order is whatever I feel like posting.)

I can't write and my artisic skills are rusty as hell so this is my coping mechanism until S3, aside from some craft projects I may undertake.

yesterday when working with my case manager, she went through a long checklist of my comprehensive needs to refresh our treatment plan. as a part of the questions she was asking me, she asked for various areas of my financial struggles, including if i was able to afford social activities such as hanging out with friends, going to the movies, etc. as part of my necessary purchases. the question was specifically phrased as "Do you have enough money every month to be able to afford social activities?"

this was not proposed as a "luxury". the question was not phrased as "Do you have enough money every month to afford luxuries/luxury purchases?" this was listed with the necessities like food, housing, medical needs, transportation, bills, and clothing. this made me burst into tears when i realized it was considered a necessary part of everyone's mental and well being. my case manager told me that not a singular person on this planet deserves to have to "earn" the right to socialize, interact with leisure activities, or to do things that bring you personal fulfillment. your money does not, and should not entirely go toward survival and practicality. it will ruin your mental health.

to any poor person who has ever been told that they don't "need" or "deserve" social or leisure activities or that your money "needs" to go 100% toward survival: they are straight up lying to you. it is a fundamental part of your mental health. don't fucking listen to them.

Can nobody see nuance on this site? Yes, Neil Gaiman is a famous author who has, surprise surprise, just been accused of horrible and awful things. “Burn his books” “if you watch good omens you support genocide”. The world is not black and white. Let’s look at the facts:

Neil Gaiman is very rich, very famous, and a very cishet guy

Neil Gaiman is very vocal about his support of transgender people

Neil Gaiman fingered his son’s 22-year-old Nanny when he was 61, when they were in a legal sexual relationship

The journalist who broke the news is an alt-right terf and the sister of Boris Johnson

The podcast discussing this story with the is very anti-BDSM (something very much present in the relationship between Neil and the first victim)

Texts and emails between Neil and Scarlet (one of the women) were expressions of mutual sexual desire

The two women said they were both in their twenties when the respective sexual relationships began, with Neil several decades their senior (61 with Scarlet and mid-forties with K)

You are not a horrible person for still liking Neil Gaiman media. Stop telling people to burn their copy of good omens. Stop telling people that reading the Sandman means they support genocide. Stop turning this into a chance to spread antizionism. Stop trying to get David and Michael to speak on this. You don’t know anything except what has been written. i mean this in the nicest way possible but making pieces of media your whole personality is not a good idea. not just cause individual authors can turn out to be horrible people that you might want to distance yourselves from later, but also because your self deserves to not be flattened by one story (no matter how important it seems to be). you deserve to be a person who cannot be defined in a few sentences.

Whilst this advice is all well and good and meant with the kindest of intentions I'm sure, we need to be mindful that autistic people (of which there are a great many here) do not have control over their hyperfixations or how tightly wound up they become in their identities, and we need to be treating each other with kindness, compassion and care right now, understanding that everyone is going to be processing things differently, landing in different stages of grief including denial, and that knee-jerk reactions aren't going to be the same place that people stay.

This whole situation is awful and painful, and for some of us, not the first time we've been here. The last thing we need is for anger and hatred to tear this community apart when for some of us, it's the only safe and supportive space we have. So I am urging you all to be kind to each other, accept that not everybody is going to experience their feelings the same way you do, and remember that with or without Neil, we're still a community of creative, thoughtful, spirited and well-meaning people and don't need him as a figurehead for that still to be true.

Your feelings are valid and so are everyone else's. You don't know their story or their journey. Be patient and gentle and, above all else, be kind, with your words, your actions, your thoughts and your self-care.
