JONATHAN STROUD ANNOUNCED NEW SERIES
In his first new project since Lockwood & Co., Jonathan once again fuses action, humour and mystery to create a uniquely exciting adventure with two fascinating heroes at its heart. Book One of The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne is scheduled for a Spring 2021 release.
Set in a fragmented future England, The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne introduces us to a world where gunfights and monsters collide, and where the formidable outlaw Scarlett McCain fights daily against the odds. When she discovers a wrecked coach on a lonely road, there is only one survivor – the seemingly hapless youth, Albert Browne. Against her instincts, Scarlett agrees to escort him to safety. This is a mistake. Soon, new and implacable enemies are on her heels. As a relentless pursuit continues across the broken landscape of England, Scarlett must fight to uncover the secrets of Albert’s past – and come to terms with the implications of her own.
I’ve been rereading TSS and right before everything goes to hell in the Red Room, Lockwood keeps mentioning that he smells something(that something being blood), while Lucy and George don’t smell a thing. And later on in the series, scent seems to play a decent-sized role in how L&C find out Marissa is still alive. Ghosts have a sense of smell, and going to the Other Side leaves any living person with a scent that they can never get rid of (which only ghosts can detect).
Scent seems to be fairly important in this universe, but it’s rarely focused on in the fandom because we have more important things to focus on (locklyle). That being said, what if Scent is actually a Talent like Hearing, Touch, or Sight? And because Marissa Fittes didn’t have it, it wasn’t really ever recognized as a Talent? Or it could just be a rare Talent? I’m sure there are other instances where something is mentioned but I am too lazy to do that at the moment because I am useless.
Doodle-doodle-doo! Holly Munro here, to make your screens squeeky clean! ✨
I still think that my favorite urban legend/folklore fact is that there are certain areas in New Orleans where you cannot get a taxi late at night not because it isn’t safe, but because taxi companies have had recurring problems of picking up ghosts in those areas who are not aware that they are dead and disappearing from the cab before reaching the destination and therefore stiffing the driver on the fare causing a loss for the company.
An occupational hazard of cab driving I had not previously considered
I love that the nola problem here is not “ghosts in my taxi cab,” but “ghosts are FUCKING BROKE DEAD BASTARDS & I GOT BILLS”
Horror is when ghosts get into cabs and scare drivers Magical realism is when cab companies have to develop policies to prevent ghastly fare-theft
But can a ghost call an Uber please discuss
Generally no. Uber requires a smartphone (most people are not buried with their smartphone) which requires service (often canceled after death) and a working credit card (same issue.)
But ghosts have been known to use technology they were attached to before their deaths, which is why sometimes ppl get text messages from dead friends/loved ones or Facebook messages from a dead person’s account. So if a ghost could manipulate their own uber account after death, if the account wasn’t closed yet, they could reasonably use their account to hail an uber…
I'm in NOLA rn and my group took a Killers and Thrillers tour of the French Quarter tonight💀
The Lockwood & Co series is looking amazing you guys
Holly: bottling up negative emotions is bad for your health
Quill: *finger guns* thats why I only bottle up the positive ones
Quill: we’re staying out of this situation
Holly: we’re ignoring this situation
George: we’re dealing with this situation
Lockwood: we…might have started this situation
Flo Bones. Florence Bonnard.
‘Well, she was a different person then. She wasn’t really Flo Bones, that’s the point. She was Florence Bonnard of the Sinclair and Soanes Agency. A young agent, very promising indeed.’
-Lockwood and Co : The Empty Grave-
Weekend fun. It’s not perfect but I am not an animator…and I want to play with something else, next time! (thanks @ravietta for the tips :’) )
