More clangen nonsense, I was trying out @aphidclan-clangen 's template and it's pretty fun! I had a hell of a time drawing Northstar though lol, not sure if I'll be able to get to other NovaClan cats in a timely manner esp since I'm doing summer classes

Looking back on my character references from like a year or more ago I decided that they needed some more sauce so he's how I'll probably be doing them from now on!

Featuring Asa because he hasn't gotten an actual fullbody ref by me yet. I'm not done with him yet unfortunately, I'll do like one or two more similar refs since his appearance changes so much during the story lol. This is "pre-arc" Asa, aka just a normal dude in his 20's

If you're confused on what he is he's an alien basically, and this is how he looked before major events that cause his literal and metaphorical fall and decent into villainy and madness

Haven't posted these guys here yet (and should probably start to redo my clangen blog tbh) but I've really enjoyed experimenting with this art style!

I have such a soft spot for emo neon sparklecats from like the 2000s and 2010s lol, so I decided to make a clangen with those themes. Still a big wip for now but here's Northstar and her deputy Midnightsky

I've been wanting to make some kind of dumb baby base for some time now and this one is ok ig??

These are specifically for my species Familiars but y'all can feel free to use them with whatever else works lol

Like humans, Familiar newborns are kinda ugly and underdeveloped due to their big ass heads. Despite having feline traits they're also pretty slow to do anything other than lay there and cry, again much like us

They have giant eyes that can open soon after birth but they don't really see much of anything for a little while, though their ears work at least. As toddlers, a Familiar's ears grow rapidly and become huge and goofy-looking, and this is because the ears are the first part of their body that grows to full size long before anything else does

Like dogs or cats, they're born with their permanent colors and usually they're consistent throughout their lives (though their "fur" is more akin to velvety skin than actual fur)

Don't let their relative size here fool you, they're about as large as human babies which is honestly freaky to imagine

I don't usually name my stuff but the title "What the Dog Did in the Nighttime" fits well I think. Inspired a bit by Francisco Goya's Black Paintings (as we had to use someone else's work as inspo for this assignment)

I do love Goya's work though (ironically haha), and wish I had more time to study his stuff but uh yeah school sucks

I've also always been fascinated by the legend of the Black Shuck (or Devil Dog, or whatever), so that played a bit into this piece as well. Plus internet horror such as Smile Dog

The dog is representative of me, though

So uh here's another unfortunate status update lol. My computer that I've been using for art for the past 9 years just went kaput on me today after behaving extremely erratically yesterday.

It's had charging problems and many other issues for a few years now, but it's finally gotten to the point that I cannot turn it on without it immediately turning off and running really hot.

So I believe that's the end for it, and I am a bit sad since I've had it for so long despite its hiccups (and because I can no longer draw digitally without it😭). So my school break will probably be going on for a bit longer.

I'm hoping to get a new one for Christmas at least, and I'd be happy if that's the only thing I receive this year. I still have my laptop, but I need a powerful computer for my various art programs and all, but maybe I can actually game on a new one.
