dahlia gave the boy a long, hard stare as she listened to his ridiculous story. it was almost too ridiculous to be true, but decided to hear the boy out. “wow, graig.” was all she could say at first, because truthfully, he had left her speechless. “i’m sure that must’ve been quite the sight. did you ever get your food?”
“eventually. i went to this sick ass pizza buffet instead, it was like the top ten best decisions i’ve had in a while.” he replied with a crooked grin. “we should go get some sometime there. you’d love it.”

“hey hey hey, i wouldn’t say i was insensitive. misinformed maybe. but insensitive? nah. besides how many deaf friends could you possibly have? are you sure its about being clear or did you just not hear me? nothin’s wrong with it though i suppose.”
“so i spent about thirty minutes talking into a parking meter, thinking i was ordering a cheeseburger with fries yesterday. needless to say i need to cut back a bit on the---y’know.” he said raising his fingers to his lips in a smoking motion. “otherwise i’m gonna end up in like a different country or some shit.”

“They might not. But them seeing that you’re trying to make an effort is better than them thinking you’re not trying at all. Just give em some time to cool down, and I’m sure things will go back to normal.”
“What if they take that time and realize they don’t want to be my friend though? I’m not exactly sure I’d be able to deal with that.”
“I’m not sure, but I’m kind of ready to go home, too. I miss my mom and the Dot and stuff.”
“The only thing I’m not looking forward to is school coming back. I could definitely do without that.”
“Well, if you need any consolation, I accidentally started doing this thing where I listen to people’s problems. So…go on?”
“There’s this girl that I really really care about, like more than anything and I made a mistake, I guess? So she’s mad at me now and doesn’t even want to talk. What should I do?”
“I don’t think you’re a big dumb idiot, Graig. It just sounds like you need to talk with her and work it out. If you want, I can talk to her a bit to see what is wrong?”
“Really? Well I’m glad at one person doesn’t think that. Would you really do that? That’d be so awesome.”

Tristan double checked the picture of Graig that Winnie sent him to be sure he had the right guy. “You’re Graig, right? Hi, Tristan, friend of Winnie’s and you can’t go home because we need to talk.”
Graig raised an eyebrow. “Its...nice to meet you Tristan. What exactly is it we need to talk about?”
“I think you’re actually able to leave whenever you please, you know.”
“I would, trust me. I just don’t have a place to stay when I get back, so this is the only place I can be for now.”
“That sucks. But if you leave, you can’t fix whatever happened .”
“I mean...yeah, that’s true but what if they don’t want to fix it? Then I’ll just look like a total idiot trying to.”
