Tyler: you got this right, Agnes?
Takeaways from my mentor
I meet with my mentor as and when he’s available. He manages my family’s money and he’s very good at what he does - his firm manages about $5 billion, and I have great conversations with him.
I don’t want to talk too much about him, but he came from a lower middle class background and today is wealthy beyond comprehension. He could buy a plane or two in the middle of the night if he wanted.
Today we focused a lot of personal growth in my career.
He gave me two books - The Inheritors by Sonu Bhasin and Fortune’s Children by Arthur Vanderbilt.
Here are some brief takeaways:
Work backwards from the outcome you want.
Define the outcome of where you want to be and plan it backwards to your current position.
2. Eliminate, eliminate, eliminate.
Life is all about elimination. Don’t focus on your weaknesses, focus on your strengths. Eliminate all the things you know you’re not good at, you have no interest in and that make you depressed.
3. Intellectual honesty.
Be honest with yourself about things you are good at and are not. The easiest person to fool is yourself.
4. Read one business biography a week.
Everything you’re going in life, there’s a 99% chance someone else has gone through it and come out of it victorious. He also mentioned this article.
5. Outline 3 strengths and 3 weaknesses.
6. (In business/ corporate careers) You’re either primarily an investor (you’d rather fund companies and start ups than start them), an operator (you’d rather build something hands on), or a manager (you’d rather periodically manage something hands off. Like for instance you could have your own franchise bakery chain where you don’t need to exercise minute control over every franchise but you still ensure that there’s some managing done from your part).
7. Do not have extreme ideologies at this age.
Not when it comes to religion, politics, etc.
8. Emotions, money and your time are something you need to be ruthless about. Absolutely ruthless.
Be careful about the friends you have and the influence they have on you.

Hori is just messing with us at this point
Here is something someone pointed out to me on the AFO discord. I don't know Japanese, so take things with a grain of salt to not spread misinformation! But. . . Koga - the construction company that AFO had/worked at.
How it's written in the Japanese version: 甲 - armour/first class 賀 - celebration.
Okay, nothing specific.
BUT... What other way can Koga be spelled as? 久我
AND GUESS WHAT THAT MEANS!
久- Hisashi 我 - I/myself (I am Hisashi) … Yea
Perhaps DFO is canon but Horikoshi just can't fit it in the plot lol
Which one suit them better? Light or shadow?
A fanart for my forever favorite fic, Miðgarðsormr! The latest chapters is an absolute masterpiece >< @jingmcastle
tbh i think the funniest phenomena that’s been happening in the last couple years is “youtuber, having gone too deep into the research hole, has been made an investigative journalist against their will”
Shout out to the guy who wanted to do some fun & silly little reviews but uncovered an illegal gambling operation
(Review 2)
this guy started out poking fun at australian politicians and ended up investigating the firebombing of his own home, during which he uncovered connections between the same politician he was making fun of + major organized crime
“So I did what any normal person would do, okay? I bought a hat and some makeup and disguised myself so that I could go undercover and do some digging on what I thought could be an illegal gambling operation that was fronting as a kebab restaurant.”
Amazing.
I for one, welcome this new niche genre of detective fiction.
kishimoto literally said in an interview that neji died as a cupid for naruhina, not that it’s not clear enough by the manga, but the creator said that himself. how can anyone take his death seriously? and when you look at the writing it’s just clownery after clownery.
as this post says, you have the wooden spears being fired, enough time for not one, but two people to jump in front of the attack, but not enough time to use a jutsu to break them, nor to push who’s getting attacked, and the spears aren’t even powerful enough to impale multiple people, just one. so neji, a jounin, end up taking the shot.
and then neji starts his final words with this:
it seems that he is trying to push hinata to naruto, which makes no sense of his character to do that. of course he continues with this:
and that makes a bit more of sense considering that if hinata’s life is at risk, it means his is as well, because, you know, he is her slave and must do that. but still, neji and naruto’s relationship has never been about hinata, it’s out of character of neji to do that, in his final moments above all.
neji isn’t dying for naruto, he isn’t dying for his comrade, the wooden spike would only kill hinata, neji is dying for her, it makes no sense of him to say this either, they tried to push this idea that neji was dying for naruto because “he was called a genius” but i can’t buy any of that when it just looks like he was used as a cupid (and confirmed by kishi after).
and then what happens after obito mocks neji’s death? hinata says this:
pushing some guilt trippy will of fire discourse onto him, and not only that, but the content itself sounds similar to naruto’s speech to his dark self only to repress it, that he needs to be the man, the hero, people expect him to be, which we know it’s bullshit, another part of the story that doesn’t look like it’s taken seriously by kishimoto either.
(would also like to comment about hinata saying “what inspired neji and carried him this far were those very principles” because they are again trying to mask how neji died for hinata as her slave, sweeping things under the rug much).
hinata’s speech to him, which is complemented by kurama for some reason (why is everybody out of character in this moment oh my god), isn’t even that romantic if you look at it, it has a lot of “will of fire” content, and it makes waterfall of truth and boruto (and naruhina consequently) even more ironic and goofy imo. incredible how the parts of naruto’s character going wrong at the ending are all tied to boruto huh.
and if you look at naruto holding hinata’s hand… it’s still not shippy on naruto’s side… he had just thought about everybody “who’s been on his side” (those people… wtf really), and says it’s because of all of those people, not just hinata. even after all this bullshit, naruto can’t genuinely reciprocate her lol.
just can’t wrap my head around how unserious this entire moment is, how damaging it is to the ending and naruto’s character, how it was set up only to push for the cash cow that is boruto, the level gets so low when the own writer doesn’t care about the writing.
disclaimer: sasusaku shippers dni, your ship is just as bad
Actually, no. I agree that hinata and naruto is rather forced, but those quotes from neji and hinata are the very essence of Naruto. Because Kishimoto is pushing for collectivism ideology. The good of many is prioritized over the good of an individual. Which is why naruto is all about sacrifices. His life is not his own, because he has a duty to serve others in his group (aka family, or konoha), for the good of the group. You may disagree with this ideology - which means you lean more to individualism ideology (personal right is prioritized), but it doesn't mean that the other ideology is wrong. You just have different values from Kishimoto. Many countries in asia lean to collectivism, so it's no surprise that a mangaka has this ideology.
For naruto to realize that sacrificing himself and keep fighting for Konoha is the way of life he needed to pursue is the peak of his character, which is why that scene during the war is important, and that Neji's death is important. (Yes, kishimoto said his death serves as a cupid, but nobody says that it was its only purpose. He was probably trying to please naruhina shippers in those interview).
But it's not that kishimoto doesn't realize the negative side of this ideology. Uchiha Itachi's story is literally the example of collectivism gone wrong. And then in boruto, Naruto's personal relationship with his son is portayed as full of conflicts because Naruto always prioritze konoha first before his family. But in the end, collectivism is still a valid ideology to follow.
I agree that hinata and naruto is rather forced, though. I mean, the boy has liked sakura for many years, and just because he realized hinata loves him for a long time in some childhood memory, he suddenly likes her? Yeah, no. Honestly, except for shikamaru and temari, i don't like any of the couples in Naruto. But it's a shounen manga, so i suppose the romance is not the main point.
That was pure evil
