Self portraits by Bollywood actress and painter Deepti Naval
And so at last I climbed the honey tree, ate chunks of pure light, ate the bodies of bees that could not get out of my way, ate the dark hair of the leaves, the rippling bark, the heartwood. Such frenzy! But joy does that, Iâm told, in the beginning. Later, maybe, Iâll come here only sometimes and with a middling hunger. But now I climb like snake, I clamber like a bear to the nuzzling place, to the light salvaged by the thighs of bees and racked up in the body of the tree. Oh, anyone can see how I love myself at last! how I love the world! climbing by day or night in the wind, in the leaves, kneeling at the secret rip, the cords of my body stretching and singing in the heaven of appetite.
The Honey Tree by Mary Oliver
finished hannah gadsbyâs memoir and she has a whole section on what she calls her wilderness yearsâ that decade or so of time where she tried to muddle through one day to the next in a state of near total isolation and how her particular flavor of post traumatic attention deficit autism spectrum comorbidities slowly wrangled her into living in squalor while she drowned in shame she had no ability to understand compassionately and I was like oh yeah thatâs age 21-28 all right.

Gap in the Hedge, Dan Wood
Loosely based around nostalgia, âGap in the Hedgeâ reflects on a journey I used to make with my Mother to visit relatives in the Rhondda Valley, every Saturday when I was a small boy. It was my first taste of a road trip and I can recall almost every inch of the journey. Iâd sit there in the front seat of my Motherâs little red car utterly absorbed and mesmerised by the forests, terraced houses and falling rock warning signs. The journey seemed to take forever, but we were only ever around 30 minutes from home.

the most insane double casting iâve heard of is ophelia and horatio being played by the same actress. the implications of that drive me crazy

#to this day my favorite performance of hamlet iâve seen is one where there were two hamlets#one was the dutiful son and the other was his vengeful id#and they split all the lines in the play depending on which hamlet was speaking#all the soliloquies became arguments between the two and it was SO good#the second hamlet doesnât appear until hamletâs father appears and tells him Claudius is to blame for his death#he opens to curtains and his first line is âMurder?â#and the other characters canât see that second hamlet at first - just the initial one#until slowly throughout the play the second hamlet is the one they look at and interact with#until finally the first hamlet - the dutiful prince - is the one whoâs ignored#anyway it was metal as fuck holy shit#i wish i could watch it again but i have no idea if it was recorded (via rythyme)
