how is it that you do the ‘has anything changed’ check in. like what are you looking for / what kind of questions do you ask yourselves. i feel like it might be helpful to know and also i have no idea how we would do that so im curious. no pressure though

we usually start by checking and seeing if we can tell a host switch has happened because that's what for us changes the most about our day-to-day

then, we check for a cohost switch because we have cohosts sometimes and that changes the second most about our lives

after that it's something like this: - has anyone new split? - has anyone gone dormant? - have we learned anything new or major about the system as a whole, our body, our lives, that someone might not know about yet? - have we experienced any episodes recently that someone might not know about yet? - has the underlying structure of headspace changed for anyone? - has anyone changed pronouns, names, or other terms? - is anyone mad at anybody in a way that hasn't been resolved yet? - has anyones relationship to eachother changed? - is M still around? (if no break glass) - does anyone have something they need everyone to know?

in whatever order we think is most important. we do this whenever we feel like something major has shifted that needs to be addressed or figured out for us to keep working together well

a handprint made in concrete is just the image of a hand, it’s not the real thing. or, it’s the absence of a hand, more than anything, the negative space. the casing around where it should be. it’s an indent that was made from something real - that could not have existed without something real - but it’s not the real thing, it’s just trying to be. maybe it’s not even trying. you put your hand there with your mother and the concrete remembers, and the handprint doesn’t even know why it exists, it just does. if we can make copies and not-things from real things in the world, who’s the say the world couldn’t do that itself? does it even need to know why?
