2. I like the idea of there being large scale repurcussions for the final episode. I am going into this story with Copper 9 being nearly torn apart by the battle so theres a lot of changes to the landscape. with this, you could say the labs are more accessible
3. I like to imagine Tessa would love horror. first thing to pop up in my head is Dredge. im totally not biased when I say Cult of the Lamb. maybe Little Nightmares. I havent thought much of it, but id love to hear others thoughts of what her fave video game could be!!

BUT as for the animals au...
Cyn definitely has her struggles, just by proxy of being a disabled, autistic woman with no biological family to fall back on, but some of that is helped by Khan and Nori basically seeing her like a daughter!
Her real moments for the story come in situational moments. Like... Just a random example... If you're trusted to take care of your boss and surrogate mothers rescue crow that she raised from a hatchling and it managed to get out and run off with your service dog and cat...
Or maybe if you start chatting with a very nice boy with a cowboy hat whose very rural, very southern mother leaves your cat out to get eaten by a barn owl...
Ooor maybe... your bunny falls in love with the rescue fox at your job?? somehow???
Those all sound like pretty stressful moments for everyone involved!
Also I can't help but insert myself into characters, so she gets shaky and yaps when she's on a sugar high!

today's your lucky day bcs i actually completely finished her ref sheet earlier today!
She's pretty silly in this au, and all in all, she's just a normal (kind of? not really...) gal trying to get through life just like the rest of us. But if I had to describe her personality?
She can be very playful and mischievous when she wants to be, but can oftentimes come off as blunt or awkward, despite being quite confident in herself because her delivery is always so monotone.
When she'd first been taken into the foster system, the moment she could, she visited the rescue Tessa was at, and visited every time she could. Khan and Nori noticed this after the first few visits, and sort of took her under their wing and let her help around the rescue. Once she was old enough and could handle the responsibility, they offered her a job so she could get onto her own feet easier once she was an adult! She still works there to this day, and the experience inspired her passion for and career in wildlife rehabilitation and care.
Unlike in a lot of depictions I see of her, I didn't really want her struggles and mental state to be the point of her character. She's their owner, the one who's in control of their care and safety. I wanted my depiction of whe here to reflect that! She's a new adult who's (mostly) got her shit together, knows what she wants to do in life, and has a pathway to getting there! (I'm jealous). She loves what she does.
Not to say she has no struggles in the series, she definitely will, but for the most part, she's doing great!
Also, yes! There will be side characters! Thad and Lizzy are on the way (doll is finished, I'm just waiting to post her with the other two), and I'd love to add some more to fill out the rescue with some more animals!
Some other side characters this will be large in the AU... Alice and Beau are both human! Alice is a butcher who ain't picky- Sparky in a giant barn owl, and Mr. Vickers (the teacher) is a human!
(by the way, I have never written a disabled character to this level of depth, so if anyone has any pointers they are very welcome! Trying to give good representation. I don't have a disorder set for her mobility issues, and currently need suggestions that fit her situation and symptoms!)

Doesn't have a fancy name (not yet, atleast) but I'll be tagging it as the MD Animals AU!
As for the Gala...
It's replaced by a house fire that killed the entire Elliot family except for Cyn/Cynthia. Tessa also managed to get out, but was put in the Rescue. The fire was, technically, Cyn's fault, though not on purpose.
ALSO, I need ideas for Lizzy and Thad's species! They'll be the same species, siblings. I was thinking rats but I'm not sure...
Nori and Khan are an older married couple who own a wildlife reserve/rescue, and Cyn is one of the workers there! Uzi and Tessa are directly from the rescue, and both are permanent guests <3
Nori has raised Uzi since she was a chick, and is the only one Uzi won't try to devour.
N, V, and J are all pets of Cyns!
Tessa is a fox who was previously an illegal exotic pet to Cyn's family, the Elliots. There was an accidental house fire when Cyn was 15, and Tessa was relocated to the rescue after that!
The animals are gonna be sentient, and able to talk amongst each other!
For context, J is a bunny (longfurred holland lop), Uzi is a crow (rescued pied crow), N is a service dog, (golden retriever/black lab mix), V is a stray cat (Egyptian mau mix) and Cyn is their owner who works at a wildlife sanctuary!!
