I’m working on a new project called the Conjure Corner or something catchy like that. It’s in its tentative state, but the purpose of it is to be an informative hoodoo magazine.
It will be an online magazine that gets updated a month.
What I’ll want is submissions from black rootworkers.
The purpose of the magazine is to connect black rootworkers, while also expanding the knowledge and meaning behind rootwork. It’s a way for our community to know more about our practices, and know they don’t have to be afraid of what we can do.
More importantly, it’s to bring awareness of our practices out there, because others who have no access or knowledge of conjure but want to practice would really, really benefit from this.
I plan to host it on multiple platforms, but mainly twitter and wix, and I’ll get submissions from tumblr.
Either way, if you’d be interested in submitting something or just want to spread the word around, please reblog!
I’m also open to suggestions for certain pages and topics people can submit! I’ll be creating the website and working on the twitter as my break approaches, but I think this is something that is super important. I want black rootworkers working together and giving visibility to our tradition.
So yeah, let me know if you’re interested! I can use the help, and I’ll even make a chat later on so we can all discuss it!
