Memorial to Faraz Hossain, victim of Dhaka cafe shooting Bangladesh (2016) [Source]

The Independent reports:

One of the victims of the Dhaka cafe shooting was a Muslim student who, despite being allowed to leave by the militants responsible, refused to desert his friends and fellow hostages.

Faraz Hossain, a Bangladeshi student at Emory University in the US, was killed alongside 19 others including Abinta Kabir, who was studying at the same US university.

His nephew Hishaan said Mr Hossain had been offered the chance to leave the cafe along with women wearing hijabs.

However, according to the New York Times, when the two women accompanying him in Western clothes were refused, he chose to stay behind and was subsequently killed.

Twenty people were killed in the attack on Holey Artisan Bakery in the Bangladeshi capital including seven Japanese aid workers, an Indian student and nine Italian businessmen and women.

Arrested for not possessing a valid drivers license, held in custody because she couldn’t make bail, “failure to receive adequate medical attention” is the reason of her death. On April 26th she was in a car accident and instead of taking her to the hospital they detained her. Died last Tuesday in police custody in the Walker County Jail in Huntsville,Texas. The same jail that killed #SandraBland. No one knows, no one is talking about this, no cause of death has been given, and even her hometown had no idea she was dead.

The other day, Democrats shitcanned a motion to expand NICS funding and increase availability of mental health records as attempts of getting some new gun control passed. Both of which are worthwhile endeavors, but because it wasn’t their idea but was rather the Republican’s idea, they voted against it.

Today, they’re acting like children that didn’t get an ice cream and staging a sit-in until their demands are met.

You know. Using the same tactic employed by Civil Rights activists to ensure rights are granted and respected. Only this time, to remove rights. Because they were offered a chance, but as it wasn’t their own, it had absolutely no merit and was not worth pursuing.

The lack of NICS support, the lack of law enforcement investigation and follow-through on attempted illegal purchases, and the sheer and stunning absence of a proper standard for submission and maintenance of felony conviction (and other) records state to state to a federal database is appalling -- and far and away the primary reason guns are available to people who should not have them. It is absolutely ridiculous to call for new laws when none of the extant laws are properly applied, properly funded, or given proper oversight.

This is shameful behavior by the lawmakers involved. I am not partisan when I say that. It is simply ridiculous.
