After a lot of failed attempts, and lots of recommendations from the centaurs, the unlikely answer comes from his accidental youtube rabbit holes. And the answer is peak 3rd gen k-pop, something about the bubblegum pop, bright colours and the lyrics being in a different language provide the correct combination of entertained and not overwhelmed and it finally makes it click for him.
