The Malfoy Family has got to be one of the most underrated families of all time. When most people think of the best/closest family in Harry Potter, they think maybe of the Weasleys, or the Potters.
I, on the other hand, think the Malfoys were the best family. One can argue that they were blood supremacists, a poor example of wizarding society in general. What one cannot argue, however, is Narcissaâs love for her son, her sonâs love for his father, and his fatherâs devotion to his family.
Narcissa While Lily was willing to die for her son, Narcissa was willing to LIVE for Draco. She knew that Draco would fall apart at the seams if she died, and thus ensured her own continued survival by being the Dark Lordâs servant. We cannot fault Lily for dying. Thatâs not what Iâm saying. I am simply saying that Narcissa had enough love for Draco to risk torture, or a fate worse than death (possible insanity under cruciatus), to lie to save him.
Lucius Lucius is a⌠tricky character to analyze. Most characters are either good or bad by the end of the series. Snape, for instance, was considered bad throughout most of the books but was devillainized in the last book. However, while Lucius is still an unanswered mystery, his devotion to his family is not. Throughout most of the series, everything he did was to avoid separation from his family. He took the dark lord into his home not out of loyalty (I say this because when Voldemort fell, Lucius was one of the first to denounce him) but out of fear for his family. He may be a bad person, but even villains have people they love, or trust.
And finally⌠Draco Draco is a relatively simple character in passing: arrogant, cunning, intelligent. His love for his father is one thing that is never fully expanded upon in the series. Draco takes the dark mark for his father. He nearly kills Dumbledore for his father. He risks his life for his father.
Truly, I believe the Malfoy family, for all itâs faults, may just be the best family in Harry Potter.
