SippChai - A Hidden Live Music Gem in Abbotsford

Last Friday night Jesse and I trekked over into Abbotsford to join in on an open mic we’ve only recently stumbled upon.

We went there a couple months ago and haven’t made it back until now - but it’s still going strong even with the summer months drawing people to camping and holiday adventures.

We played a few new songs that no one had heard before just to see how the small room responded. The song I was most nervous about was the one I got the most response about - so I hope that’s a good sign!

The owner of Sippchai is Jas - and he is a complete source of encouragement, community spirit and positivity. His entire cafe is decked out in small tokens of great spiritual leaders and his facebook page just exudes support to many local artists - in music, dance and beyond.

For a guy running a coffeshop/sometimes restaurant bar style joint and from what I can tell, on his own 7 days a week, he has so much energy. I really appreciate his dedication to the local community and just wanted to express my upteenth gratitude for his support.

To top this post off - we’ll be hosting and playing at Sippchai on Saturday September 2nd. Details and other artists for the show are to be announced but we’re hoping to have some new gems for everyone to enjoy!

Chris Jackson, creator of the Unsigned Music Podcast, features Grace Under Pressure on Episode Seven of the show. Melody Dante speaks about her conversation with Chris and the great content around his new podcast.

My band @gupmusic was recently featured on a new Podcast that has been posting every couple weeks a really great music act to check out. 

It’s run by this guy, Chris Jackson, and he’s super passionate about getting the word out for unsigned music to find them homes in the ears of listeners. He’s curated six amazing episodes before us and I really think if you’re on the look out for something new to find - you should take a listen. I found some really good stuff that I liked on it and I’m ALWAYS looking for new emerging music.
