Ever think about how Magnus should lack depth perception, but seemingly doesn't? The books don't really show it... Except, they do.
Magnus has a very consistent theme of "going too far". Two examples off the top of my head is him trying to catch a falling spaceship (Master of Prospero) and trying to solo an Aeldari titan (a thousand sons). Both feats where he suceeds, but also feats that he would NOT have survived without the help of others. He reaches too far, seemingly in ignorance of the scale of what he's trying to do. He's unaware of how far is TOO far. Or, so to say, he lacks the acuity to judge it. He lacks METAPHORICAL depth perception.
And of course he does. It's no coincidence that tzeentch chose to take one eye, and not both; that Magnus is subtly crippled, not blinded. A blind Magnus might stop and think; might slow, be more deliberate. A fully blind Magnus would not be off balance. He would be HIGHLY aware of a crucial concept: that others see things he cannot. That he is ignorant.
A fully sighted Magnus would not be fooled. Would understand the concept of distance; would know how far ahead his Father was. Would see the depth of the abyss and draw his hand back.
And what Tzeentch takes isn't just Magnus's physical eye, so much as a piece of his soul that manifests there; A piece of his whole perception itself. Magnus is missing the ability to understand, not just see, true scale, true depth. To imagine it. His world is flat, and he thinks that all of it is within reach.
He does not perceive the true depth of the warp. He does not perceive the depth of his mistakes. He does not even recognize the depth of other people's wisdom; he listens to no one, condescends to most.
He has been deliberately and specifically disabled. He cannot know how deep the abyss is, or how far it is safe to reach into it. How far is too far, how much is too much; he does not know when to stop. Tzeentch took from him the Unknown Unknown. Magnus's fate approaches, and he does not know how close it is, how fast it's moving.
