“I found Rome a city of bricks and left it a city of marble.” Augustus
“Rome – the city of visible history, where the past of a whole hemisphere seems moving in funeral procession with strange ancestral images and trophies gathered from afar.” George Eliot, pen name of Mary Ann Evans
It’s been a while since I posted something. But since it’s not too long ago that it was christmas, I want to give one of my drawings as a christmas present for everybody that wants to receive it, yay!
So the style is still a bit like Fiep Westendorp’s style but I’m still working on that. But how could I possibly redevelop something that’s already perfect? Anyway, this was the card I send to all my family and friends, and I hope you enjoy it too. Hope you had a nice christmas and I wish you lots of love and fun in 2017!
Fantasy on the loose
It took me a loooong time to finally create a moment for myself to get back on track with illustrating. But this time on my new iMac! So still getting used to the big switch between OS X and Windows, but I’m getting there :)
Onze kleine deugniet
At last! My graduation movie. It took me a while, but I finally had a good reason to publish my movie online. My graduation project Onze kleine deugniet was used as a pre movie in the cinema in Breda and was shown in Tilburg.
This movie is about a boy sharing his life experience with us. While the story develops it seems that the boy can’t really control his own behavior. Why isn’t he able to take control of his own behavior? Does he regret the things he does? And if he does, does that change anything? In my disarming animation documentary about autism we’ll see the world through the eyes of a teenage boy with autism struggling with himself and with the exceptions of the people around him.
Website design
Some idea’s for the design of a website. The tricky thing about this design was that there would be businesses visiting our website, but also individuals. So I had to choose if I wanted to make two ports (which would influence the SEO), or one website (makes it more complex for customers to find the right tabs). So I figures I’d make a few sketches and let the visual aspect also play a role in this.

Building up the poster
Finally it’s done! The poster for Sjolefestasie. THE carnaval event of the south. And I had the honor to do their graphic design. It was a hard design to do because the design had to be light and bright, but not too childish. The design had to be colorful but too happy, and because it’s a big dress up party it was quite hard to keep it a bit serious. But I’m happy with the end result.

A lot of portraits
I’m shaping my own worlds
I’m working on a new illustration. It’s how I ‘blow life in my own world’. I want really contrasting colors, a bit pale, mysterious and still happy colors. Normally I paint blue eyes, but because the background is blue I went for green eyes :)
2016 Kicks off good with my new showreel. Enjoy.
Interactive website fron tpage for a book ‘De man zonder ziekte’ by Arnon Grunberg
Two years ago I did an interactive project with a few colleges. And with that group we also wanted to do an interactive website. As a front page we wanted to use the actual book cover and this is what came out.
Branding illustration with the green rope
A few months ago I made these illustrations for a company that needed some branding. The main color they used was apple green. Their idea was to bring every discipline together. Artists or finance manager it doesn’t matter. As long as you’re ambitious and you want to start your own company you could go there. That’s why I thought of a green rope that connects everybody. I made this illustration, this could be used on postcards etc. But in the corporate style there would also be a green line everywhere so everything connects.
Character design sketches Have I shown you there already? Made these a few years ago, but still think they’re cute.
