Okay so I haven't been on here for 9 months and it is scary what I've been through horse wise in these 9 months...
For one, Bertie, who was the only horse I ever rode last year, became really quite ill and I had to stop riding him. He was off work for over half a year and it was a horrible time for me. I missed him so much and I worried every single day about losing him :( I got offered him for free, as if I didn't take him he'd eventually be sold on, and they knew how much I loved him so they came to me first but I just couldn't afford to keep him so I had to decline. Thankfully he got better and now he's a hack horse at the school. I've only ridden him once in over a year, but it was on a hack where we waded through rivers and went for a gallop and it was so amazing.
As well as that, in July 2013 I got a loan pony at my riding school called Candy. She needed a lot of schooling, so I began riding her everyday starting small with flatwork, then pole work then eventually jumping. She began to really get better and we formed a close bond. She'd actually run up to me and whinny when she saw me coming it was the loveliest thing. Sadly though I started college and I couldn't ride her everyday and she started to go downhill. She had time off for severe lameness, and when she came back she was worse than ever. I really couldn't control her, she was all over the place. Bucking, spinning, bolting. She got quite dangerous and I was told not to ride her anymore. Then I had the horrible day when I was told she was colicing. God I was terrified I was going to lose her, I was literally preparing to see her go. Thankfully she was okay but then a week later I lost her anyway because she was put up for sale. I knew nothing about it, and I was actually the last to find out she'd been put up for sale. I had one last night with her and it was so emotional. It was one of those things where you don't realise how much you love something till it's gone. She went in December 2013 and I still miss her and its still as painful now as it was then.
However, on the bright side, she brought my confidence up and I've schooled quite a few ponies since then. I believe my riding has come on a lot, and I feel almost fearless now haha. I'll get on anything and won't really worry about what it's going to do. I did 4 shows last year and won the advanced equitation class every single time which is something I am actually so proud of myself for, without sounding stuck up haha. I've got a show coming up on the 18th where I'll be doing equitation, dressage and showjumping. I don't ride as often now but things are still quite good. Anyway yeah thats what I've been up to... Not that anyone cares but yno.. :')
