Opinions about the ending under the cut
It was rushed, it was messy, it was nonsensical, it was terrible, it was all over the place and I will not pretend it wasn't, I love this show I really do but I have to be critical and that ending fucking sucked.
The good thing about this show was how realistic the romance was getting with Ed and stede learning to take it slow, only to throw that away for "yeah Ed finds Stede's letters and everything is alright" nothing that is in the letters was anything Ed hadn't known yet, he knew stede loved him deeply, he said many times, Ed needed time, needed to take it slow and let's just fuck that idea off with a sincerely cliche grand romantic gesture to fix everything up (not that I disliked the scene of them running to one another fighting, it was a great scene just in the fucking wrong place)
The plot hoped around like a frog with Adhd, treating the narrative more like a to do list than natural responses to situations like"alright now we need a cool Ed montage, now Jim being badass,now izzy being poetic,now the cartoonish bad guys,now a joke,now a throwback to a earlier episode,now Zheng..."
Like the last 15 minutes of the show jump from izzy dying a dramatic death, his funeral and out of nowhere lucius and Pete's weeding like respectfully what in the fuck
Stede's plan was just a excuse for more badass images that will look good in gif sets but manly was stupid and pointless, I know they could've get a better plan specially with a litteral pirate genius zheng and someone like Jackie on their sides
Ed response to izzy's death was so nothing, like his "only family" his longest time friend his right hand man, Ed doesn't shed a single tear and is just "oh well this is life let's bury the guy" like what ?
Do I hope they can fix this mess in another season yes but they made it so "series finalle" with the whole sailing to the sunset+cozy home together like that there's not much to do to fix that is better if we start season three with an it was all a dream of a seagull this is how things actually went
