Graduation

This coming Saturday, I will be graduating.

I am thankful for the friends who kept me sane during times of crisis and panic. Parents who supported me in anything and everything. The teachers who taught me more than just mere subjects.

But it’s kind of scary to think about the future because it won’t be like taking exams. I imagine it will be way more difficult than taking an epidemiology exam (the class I had the most difficulty in during college). Life will be full of surprises and there won’t be simple answers or even answers to the problem at all.

Learning to rest

My heart is heavy with having to go back home and face the reality. When I go back home, I'll go to school again and soon graduate. I feel the need to find another job. I feel the need to do something. I feel like I'm falling behind my peers.

But deep inside my heart, I want to rest. I want to take this time and focus on myself.

What I really want to do is volunteer at PAWS and take care of the animals instead of getting another part time job.

Soon after graduation, I will have to apply to many different companies and organizations for jobs. I need references. I need experiences. I need to better my resume.

However, I am simply going to let go all of these and rest.

I am never going to have time like this to rest again in my life.

Why is that the days go by so much faster when I try to rest? Why is it that I feel anxious when I try to rest?

I really need to learn how to rest.

My secret recipe of how to succeed in life

It's 5 AM in the morning. I don't know why I have this sudden urge to write down my revelation down on the internet.

I just realized I already succeeded in life!

Well, some may criticize me for being arrogant or not having a list of materialistic things that defines a successful person such as a degree (which I will soon have), high paying job, a car, a house, money, fame etc.

Whatever it is, in my opinion, I already succeeded in life because I know how to make myself happy.

I love when people laugh at my jokes or just my silly self. I just enjoy it. It makes me happy. I love being surrounded by smiling and laughing people. Who doesn't?!

Now, this doesn't mean I'm immature or stupid. Sadly, some people mistake my silliness as stupidity, and it makes me really sad that they don't have a sense of humor. I can be mature and very serious. But it's not just who I would like to be. I wouldn't enjoy it. Actually, I would really hate it if I was like that. I would be bored out of mind if I can't speak my mind and crack some jokes.

Also, another reason I think I succeeded in life is that even though I make a lot of mistakes, I can laugh over them. I can only remember rare occasions when I was truly sad and depressed about my mistakes. One example that gets everyone laughing is my chamomile tea pronunciation. I'm not the best at speaking or writing English as ya'll know. When I first encountered the word chamomile, I was young. My parents are first generation Korean immigrants and chamomile tea is not something people talk about on a daily basis. Nobody taught me how to pronounce it. And I just read it as is. CHA-MOLE-LEE. And that stuck in my head. I didn't realize I was pronouncing it wrong until my college roommate one day just looked over at me and cracked up hysterically when I said "Eww, I don't really like CHA MOLE LEE tea. You can have mine". Just silly mistakes like this makes me and people around me laugh which makes everyone happier.
