i’ve just noticed that i have been mentioned in this post by @writerscreed !! i’m so grateful for the mention and also just wanna say thank you so much to everyone who’s reblogged or liked my poems, it means a lot <3
with every vibration from my phone i get so stupidly hopeful that it will be your name i see.
message me.
I just wanted,
To be yours,
Totally and eternally,
Yours,
Even when,
I was perhaps,
Nothing much.

even in distance we are never apart because forever you will be in my heart.
long-distance love.
tonight, i find my light in you. tomorrow, i find the light is dim. yesterday, i saw the light begin.

Oh my goodness, I love it! Thank you so much <3
I really need to get writing on this story, I’m feeling very inspired at the moment!
you make even the sunniest of days shine a little brighter
platonic love.
Tired eyes but voices wide awake: how many nights spent chatting til gone midnight, gone one am, gone two am before we guess? Chasing dreams, worries, stupid jokes we won’t remember in the morning. How many times must our laughter fill the room before we know soulmates aren’t always romantic and there’s one for every part of you?
soulmates // a poem (via sapphicauthor)
There are too many thoughts crowded behind my eyes and there is nothing romantic about the skeletons in these closets. Bury me with my secrets, with the bodies in the garden of the world I tried to build for myself.

April is National Poetry Month so in celebration, I thought I’d set myself a challenge: for the month of April I’m going to set myself the task of writing at least one poem, every single day.
You can follow my efforts on my Instagram by looking for the poems with the little dates in the corners (like this one)
And feel free to join in too! You can either do this by writing a poem every day or if you’re not a poet yourself why not follow and support some?
If you’re not sure who to follow here are some of my favourites:

fade away
don’t say a word
don’t allow those thoughts
inside your head
and hurt me
but you do
because you are leaving
a leaf blown past
when winter comes to wipe fall
away
away you go
sinking
into your feelings
trapped
in your mind
and you’ve lost the key
to get out
and come back
to me
My body hair may not be flowers sprouting from my skin but it is coarse dark grass and natural still. My stretch marks may not be tiger stripes blossoming on my flesh but they are warrior’s paint I wear with pride. Not everything on a woman’s body must be beautiful to belong there. Do not patronise me with promises of pretty - this is nature, it is not always glamorous.
but it’s mine // a poem (via sapphicauthor)
Do not go outside the lines they say. We must all be uniform neat, contained - even imagination constrained. But I cannot will not fit to the shape of someone else’s sketch.

I’m not like other girls. Says every female protagonist. You’re not like other girls. Says every male love interest. Well, you know what? I’m proud to be like a girl, I am proud to be a girl. There’s no such thing as ‘other girls’ as if we’re all only one thing, 2D, flat on a slab. There is no one way to be a girl. Other girls might be more beautiful than me, inside and out. Or I might be more beautiful than them. They might be sexier, braver, bolder. They might be better at art or writing or singing and dancing. Other girls might discover the cure for diseases. Other girls might go into space someday or write the next bestseller. They could be artists or doctors or writers or lawyers or musicians or presidents. They could be anything. Except me. Other girls are my best friends, the people I can turn to when I’m down. Other girls are my sisters, my friends, my family. The people I can trust. I am not like other girls. For everything that they are more than me - more outgoing, more intelligent, more pretty, more funny, more witty, more caring - they are also less in other ways. I am not like other girls. No girl is like other girls. We are us, we are more and we are less than other girls in a hundred myriad ways. More or less. It balances out in the end: no other girl is better than me, I’m no better than any other girl. We are who we are. And that goes for girls told they were girls at birth, and the ones who had to claim it for themselves. You are not like other girls. It goes for girls of every colour, of every ability and every age. You are not like other girls. You are you. Do not feel that you must hate your own gender and everything it stands for. They will tell you that to be girly, to like pink, or make-up or clothes is to be bitchy, to be weak, to be shallow. I say look past that at the depths of all you can be. Regardless of whether you are a girly-girl or not, we share this name together. To the female protagonists and the male love interests, let’s say: stop using this fact as an insult to others. As a way to look down on other girls and sneer at them. These other girls you so laugh at are your support and you are theirs. You’re not like them no, but they are not like you either. Other girls are amazing, pretty, wonderful. Let’s celebrate that I am not like other girls and nether is she, or her, or her. We are all girls who are not like other girls. We are all girls. We are all simply ourselves. Let’s see us supporting each other.
I am not like other girls // A Letter To Female Protagonists and Male Love Interests (via sapphicauthor)
Just rewatched @savannxh-b ‘s “i’m not like other girl’s video” and realised where a lot of the thoughts and feelings that would eventually translate into this piece came from so thanks so much for that!
