It's almost a little too quiet around here lately, don't we think?

After the roaring success and pizazz of Mean Girls, I have to admit that I'm facing an emotion that can only be linked closely to an apathetic boredom. Where's the chaos? Where's the buzz? We need to host an event - or better yet, an extravaganza. Perhaps a masked ball? A themed party? Something perky and exciting to add that extra spring in our step each morning. Any ideas?

i was walking past the practice rooms today and heard someone absolutely maul mariah carey's entire butterfly album. i'm talking full on crime scene. if anyone feels like fessing up to how absolutely talentless they are, i'll buy you a cup of tea and a melodyne subscription.

I'm imagining that cup of tea is going to need a MIRACLE to cure whatever vocal damage has been caused to that poor, unfortunate soul. Everyone has their own preference - honey, lemon, ginger or even liquorice.

The audition process has truly got to be questioned when students are getting into NYADA with this level of chaos.

"you know, i never told you this, but now that i think enough time's passed, and, considering our roles in the show and everything, i think it's only right that i let you know that i did, in fact, totally have a big lesbian-...or... bi, i guess- crush on you back in freshman year." her cheeks flush at the confession, as memories of the way harmony had made the butterflies in her stomach go crazy the total of seven occasions they'd exchanged words came flooding back. "i'm pretty sure i wasn't even on your radar-" she stops herself from pointing out that might still very well be the case, making a conscious effort of trying to be kinder to herself, "but i just thought you were so cool and confident and talented, and... i don't know. it felt like being in a room with a celebrity or something."

There weren't many things in life that could temporarily render Harmony speechless - but that? Well, Tina's admission did the trick. The roles that the two girls were playing, Janis and Regina, were mortal enemies whom Harmony had convinced herself years ago were secretly just sapphic-lovers. An immediate swarm of thoughts fluttered around her brain, trying to process each and every new piece of information in a hurried frenzy. Truthfully, her path hadn't crossed with Tina all that much - or at all, really. Yet that hadn't meant Harmony hadn't noticed her. "You've always been on my radar, Tina." She immediately replied, her tone firm and absolute. "At the beginning, purely from a talent point of view. It's like I have this buzz-buzz-BEEP scanner in my brain that immediately narrows in on talented individuals. You could say I'm supremely attracted to them? And your talent was always so radiant. So, as you can imagine, you were always in my mind and on my radar - even if our paths never really crossed." She paused again, realising she was rambling and starting to inwardly panic that this had crossed into the realm of nervous-caused rambling. "I really appreciate you telling me." Harmony gave a smile. "Have you ever stumbled across the Janis-Regina side of the internet? There are so many people who are convinced they literally were just secretly in love with each other the entire musical. Or movie. Myself, included."

when: saturday, october 11th where: nyada’s fall festival who: jesse & @harmonynyc

"i'm sorry, correct me if i'm wrong," he knew he wasn't, but giving off the appearance of humility didn't hurt, "but wasn't this show advertised to us as featuring some of nyada's finest? did they all call out sick or something? replaced last minute by... whatever that was?" was jesse a little butthurt that he hadn't been asked to be a part of nyada's fall festival production this year? maybe. and, sure, he probably would have had to turn the offer down - it most likely wouldn't have worked with his rehearsal schedule for mean girls, but still. would it have hurt them to ask? "what a wasted opportunity. could have been a great chance to advertise the star power of this place to some of the general public, but..." after giving the performers a rather unenthusiastic round of applause, he stands from his seat, waiting for harmony to join him. "i need a pick me up. want to hit up one of the bake sale booths?"

Her attention was FIXATED - laser sharp eyes, watching, scanning - as she watched the performances with a fascination. This performance of The Addams Family was meant to be NYADA's finest - yet, with herself NOT in that cast or dazzling on the stage, Harmony was a little baffled. Bemused, almost. This was not NYADA's finest; not by a long shot. Part of her brain was wondering, calculating and pondering over just how much the bribes must have been. Another part of her brain was kicking herself for not thinking about bribing the NYADA-professors sooner. It was only when Harmony heard a familiar voice to her side that her gaze shifted, eyebrow raised, before she reached out and placed her hand over Jesse's mouth. "Shhhh." Her eyes were wide with SCANDAL as she hurried Jesse away from the front of the audience in an instant. When they were safely away from the crowd of onlookers, Harmony finally grinned and let go out of his mouth.

"Jesse St James. If you're going to start sharing INSANELY accurate and heinously scandalous gossip like that, you need to start perfecting your telepathic skills before someone overhears something. We're the front faces of Mean Girls. Being overheard trash-talking another show so close to our opening night could be RUINOUS." Pausing for a breath, Harmony took a quick glance around, checking the coast was clear before adding. "-Okay, but SERIOUSLY? What even was that performance? Did they just lumber all of the Mean Girls rejects in one room and give them some kind of sympathy show?" Her eyes darted around the room, scanning - one, two and THREE places - before landing back on Jesse. "Is there any bleach here? Can you pour bleach into your ears? I need something to drown and deafen out the pain of those performances."

Honestly, I'd completely forgotten they were doing a costume contest, too long spent working on the set for Addams Family, I think.

How's the set going? I'd imagine if you picked any Addams Family character, you'd be totally fine using that as inspiration for a costume!

I'm not the costume type, unless it's for a performance, so count me out. As for theme, I don't believe there ever is one, hasn't been in the past, at least that I can recall. Not that I've ever paid too much attention to such. So, honestly, what you do and how you do it is on you.

See, this sounds to me like you've not yet been snatched up for a paired or group themed costume and that, to me, sounds like a real waste of an opportunity. Thank you for the advice, though! I appreciate your wisdom.

i didn't hear anything about a theme, unfortunately. you know i love a theme. i decided on an angel, kind of inspired by the 1990's romeo & juliet directed by baz luhrman. it has such a beautiful aesthetic - i probably won't win, someone who's wearing bunny ears and next to nothing will, but at least we'll have fun?

SEE - this is what I was thinking!!! NYADA-students, especially those of whom that I spend my time with, are insanely and incredibly clever. We have the ability to turn something as simple and stereotypical as a costume party into a literal work of art. Thank goodness for you, Rachie.

I'm pretty sure I have Claire Dane's angel costume on my 'bisexual awakening' moodboard. Please tell me we can spend time together just firing compliments back and forth at each other until we fall in love. I'm only half kidding!

Please do NOT second guess your costume!! I'm merely...trying to guage EXACTLY how Halloween are we talking. Are we thinking sexy-esque vibes? Cady-Heron literally terrifying vibes? OR are we putting our own Rocky-Horror-Chicago themed twist on the entire concept of a Halloween outfit? This is NYADA, after all! The college of piz-azz!

In the spirit of the highly anticipated and rapidly approaching Fall Festival, I wanted to discuss the most exciting event that I have spotted - the COSTUME CONTEST. Because, HELLO? Costume contest? A themed costume contest? Immediately, my heart rate has quadrupled. I'm ASTOUNDED.

My question is simple - what IS the theme? How are we interpreting the theme? I've been off-campus for the past week so my access to any gossip, plans or ideas has been severely restricted. I'm assuming the costumes are musical theatre related? What are your costume plans?
