Hard and slow. After falling ill earlier this week, I've been frustrated with not being able to run. Another set back, but here I am back at it with a 6km. I'm not backing down from this 10k in November, I will complete it 💪 this run was hard and I was tired at the end but I felt like I could have made it at least another kilometre, so thats what ill do next week. For now its 6km all round. Hitting things harder from now on with lots of strengthening and rolling muscles in between. Come on!
Rain rain go away! It's official, the cold months are here and do you know what that means? Asthma! When I played football it took me a month for my lungs to adapt the the cold weather again so i should be fine soon. But in the meantime, call me wheezy! This 5k felt great aside from the slight breathing problem, my endorphins are running high and I'm now sipping green tea. A longer run on thursday will be interesting.
Knee recovery complete!
So i completely forgot to turn my watch on for my last run of the week (it was 7am ok I was tired) but after 5km I have completed an easy week of running as well as knee strengthen exercises! Things are looking a bit more positive now, next week and I can get back to running at least 3 times, including a long run!
You’re going to have bad runs. They sometimes happen the next run you have after the greatest run in your life. There is no explanation. They just happen. Everything can be perfect in your life and you’re well-rested and well-hydrated and wearing your favorite underwear, but then they just happen. Just let them happen and know you’ll do better next time.
What’s something you wish you had been told before you started running? (via run-hungry-taste-victory)
It felt so good to go a short way today My knee felt fine while running however it feels a little tender post-run so I'll have to keep an eye on it. It's looking good though (I'm not saying its better yet because last time I did and it wasn't). Tomorrow will be spent resting and doing some small knee strengthening exercises reccomended my a physio friend of mine. I've got to be positive.
Running Update!
Well, it's been a while since I last ran (a week and a half, sadly) and its all down to this silly knee of mine. What I thought could be DOMS turned out to be a lasting pain in my upper calf/lower knee area. I've not had pain for 3 days now (yay!!) so a light jog may be on the card tomorrow to ease myself back into things.
“I run because it is part of my genetic wiring. I run because millions of years of evolution have left me programmed to run. And finally, I run because there’s no better way to see the sun rise and set.” – Amby Burfoot (at Van Cortlandt Park)
Let running take you into the unknown.
A slow milestone is still a milestone. My knee felt a lot much better today so I went on a slow, longer run which turned out to be my furthest yet! One more step towards my 10k goal in Novemeber. Now to rest up for parkrun. Anyone else reached any milestones recently?
Feeling frustrated. I was due a run yesterday however I woke up with knee pain. Its not that bad but I don't want to make it worse and be out for longer. I really want to go out for a longer run but I'm just not sure I can risk it. Let's hope tomorrow it feel fresh and ready. Meanwhile I'll rest in my favourite hoodie :)
Pretty sure this is what pure happiness looks like.
First parkrun and a new PB!!!!
Wow that was tough! Kept a pace of sub 7 minutes per km throughout without stopping and managed to get a pb. A massive sprint at the end got helped me there; nearly got sub 30 mins but maybe next time!
Happy days! What a contrast from my bad run last Monday
Shorter, but faster. Left it a little late today so my run was a 1km short but i felt so much faster. I loved the faster pace! I'm feeling a pb at Parkrun on Saturday.. watch this space (i have to pb now so I don't look stupid).
Today felt like a bad run. It was going so well until I got stomach cramps around 4km and had to stop. It is so frustrating when you know you could have gone further but your body thinks differently. I guess not all runs will be easy and fun. Training is hard. Time to get back at it again and hit that 6km next week. In the meantime I have another run scheduled for Wednesday then my first parkrun on saturday!
