Hot Take: I really hate the way some fanfic author's glamarize Old Valyria

It was said to be a mass slaving empire where horrific blood rituals were carried out. Where people were treated like animals rather than people.

And yet some will have characters rebuild valyria as if it was some great glorious empire. I feel like sometimes we forget to acknowledge what Valyria was.

Real life equivalents would be places like Ancient Rome, which again have been glamourised I think because people find it uncomfortable to talk about the hard stuff.

I'd love to see a fanfic that really confronts the idea of Old Valyria, particularly as I think (if we ever get the rest of the books) that's what GRRM is going to have Dany do.
