The Black Brook, Oil on canvas (c. 1908) John Singer Sargent (American, 1856–1925) painted his fifteen-year-old niece, Rose-Marie Ormond, by a stream in Aosta, northern Italy. Ormond was Sargent's frequent travel companion and one of his favorite muses.

The painting belongs to a series of Alpine pictures he created during his travels, using an Impressionistic impasto technique in both oil and watercolor. The color palette centers on a striking contrast between the bright white of Ormond's dress and the dark shadows of the landscape. The Justice League needing to run a seduction op and considering every member other than Batman is hilarious to me.

Like, not only do they not know his secret identity (for this idea to work at least) but they’re completely unaware that not only is Batman devastatingly attractive, he’s also one of the most charming, talented liars out there.

And he’s just sitting there watching Hal and Oliver fight over who’s going to seduce the politician/charm their way into the meeting silently laughing to himself.

i don't understand, (i believe) in the books it says that neil was supposed to be a backliner because of his height. but from my research, backliners are typically the tallest and heaviest in the team. am i dreaming that part of the lore up?

Like many, Im a huge fan of Yvan Bilibin illustrations and paintings, I have been inspired by his amazing work for years now, but never took the time to try to infuse it in my own work. these days, Im trying new methods and ways to start a painting. For this one, even tho I had an idea in mind, I first painted rough blobs of greens, added the character in one go afterwards, and then tried to make sense of everything.

i do in hindsight really love the concept of complaining about adaptational changes in a 3000 year old oral tradition of which there isn’t really a definitive version so much as a surviving one that is also the most adapted story of all time. my chud forebears in Roman Britain throwing rocks at a bard going nah nah nah the last one said some different other shit at that part you gotta do it again is a comforting image to me
