Specifically things I want (and this will not be a complete list) are
Reproductive rights - I want the right to make my own choices regarding my body and reproducing. This includes safe, legal, and affordable abortion access free from stigma, the ability to easily access birth control, the right to make my own decisions regarding pre natal care and birth, putting an end to forced sterilization (an issue that mainly affects WOC,) the ability to be sterilized if I wish, the ability to decide for myself if and when I will ever have children and to not be shamed for my desicion. Along with a few other things.
Wage equality. Women still make less money than our male counterparts. This gap is even more distressing when you add in factors like race, disability, or being a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
An end to body shaming and diet culture. I don’t want young girls growing up hating their bodies. I don’t want harmful diets pushed onto women. I want fat people to be able to access the healthcare we all deserve, without facing shaming, or outright abuse and mistreatment from medical professionals.
An end to rape culture and victim blaming. One of the first questions assaulted women are asked is still what they did to deserve the assault. Our society blames or refuses to believe victims of sexual violence, and the vast majority of rapists will never spend a single day in jail. Women’s bodies are often treated as public property, being taught from a young age that “boys will be boys” and to ignore and accept lewd comments from strangers, and on occasion, even touching without our consent. I want to live in a world where women don’t need to fear walking down the street. Rape and sexual abuse of course is not an issue only faced by women but if you look at the statistics you can’t deny that it is a gendered problem, with women making up the majority of victims and men making up the overwhemly majority of abusers. The erasure of male victims is a direct result of toxic masculinity.
An end to toxic masculinity. I don’t want to live in a culture where men are shamed and embarrassed of anything considered too “feminine.” I want men to have the ability to freely express their emotions and for women and everything associated with them to stop being seen as “less than.”
I want to see better diversity and representation, both in media, and in positions of power. And not flat, two dimensional media representation, representation that shows us as real people.
I want to abolish oppressive structures like white supremacy, male privilege, heteronormativity, and cissexism (again not a complete list.) I don’t want men to get away with comminiting violence against women, I don’t want POC to be attacked or have their culture stripped from them. I don’t want to assume cisgender and heterosexual as the defualt. Etc ect.
I want to end the over-sexualization and objectifacation of women. We are whole people, not objects to be conquered by men. We need to stop sexualizing everything we do.
Destroy the culture where pedophilia and the sexualization of minors is considered normal, and at time, appropriate. Telling young girls that they need to cover their bodies, as not to be distracting to their male classmates, and even their adult teachers, is telling them that they need to be ashamed of their body, that it’s something inherently sexual. Adults need to stop dating minors. I could think of a lot of other examples.
I want male violence against women and domestic abuse to end. This is also not an issue only faced by women but if you look at the statistics you can’t deny that it is a gendered problem, with women making up the majority of victims and men making up tha overwhemly majority of abusers. Abolishing gender roles. Gender roles and the belief that certain things and jobs are for men, and certain things and jobs are for women. This also plays into toxic masculinity with the belief that men are too good to do the women’s jobs, and men’s jobs are too good for women to do. Along with forcing people into imaginary and unnecassary boxes, this results in women doing much more unpaid labour than men. The majority of housework and child care, even today, is done by women.
There’s a lot more I could write but this is getting long, I hope it helped.
And by the way referring to us as “females” is kind of dehumanizing. That term always rubs me the wrong way because it’s often used by misogynists. “Female” is not really a noun it’s an adjective, the noun would be “female humans/people,” and there’s already a word for that, “women/girls.” Also “a female” is the kind of thing people say when referring to animals.
