While Nigel's obsession with Alex is peak cinema, I almost find it more insane how quickly and deeply Alex started obsessing over Nigel. And he did it WAY before Nigel even gave a shit he existed.
Yes, Nigel was weird from the start. He had creepy books and the edgy kind of stuffed animals, he did vivisections in his dorm room, overall he was living the silly life. But he mostly kept to himself at first. He did study Alex, but he studied other students too. He's just weird like that. Potentially, he might've watched Alex a little more closely since they were sharing a room and Alex' father was in the order. But he didn't seem to develop any actual interest in Alex until the train-kidnapping. In my opinion, that was the point at which he realized Alex was the Jack he'd been looking for - and only then did he start to actively persue Alex.
Meanwhile, Alex was staring that boy down from day one. The MOMENT he saw him in the dining hall he was like "shit. Fuck. Bugger or whatever British people say. I need to go look at his personal belongings right now"
And then the stares. Alex. Alex can you stop. If someone is being this strange, you avoid them, Alex. You don't 👁👁 them day and night. Alex was having an entire internal monologue about twinning and Nigel being linked to him somehow and able to read his mind, meanwhile Nigel was probably thinking about the gastric anatomy of rats or something.
Then Alex found out Nigel had been writing about him in his little diary. What's the next move? Kidnap him and almost throw him out of a train, of course. It's not like that will actually draw in Nigel's attention and doom you forever, Alex.
Conclusion: Nigel's manipulation started way later than Alex says it did. He makes it seem like it was a folie à deux kind of thing the entire time but for like half of the movie, it was a folie à un. Nigel came to that school with a religious psychosis that had been festering inside of him for a long time but Alex only needed a few weeks or even days to develop one around his own gayness.

The HCQ are all detectives and Yanqing is a genius detective but also a child who needs to be picked up from school (think detective Conan). Whoever isn’t on an active case needs to leave at 3:00 to pick up Yanqing from grade school and then they just take him to the crime scene too because all their babysitters also work at the station.
Just imagine the HCQ in suits with guns.

He’d have a blue skateboard like his sword that Yingxing would fit with all kinds of stuff and he’d get gadgets! On off days, he gets a little navy blue blazer and a light blue bow tie (I can’t see him rocking a red bow tie. It’s not his color 😭). Sometimes, he’s in his little school uniform and getting picked up by Baiheng but instead of going home, they go to a crime scene.
Yanqing: Are we going to a case today?
Baiheng: Yep! We’re going to check out this warehouse that got robbed and then we can get ice cream
Yanqing: Yay!!! What’d they take? Weapons? Jewels? Artifacts?
I think they try to keep him away from murder cases but sometimes things happen.

Jing Yuan is police inspector and head of the division. The one who found Yanqing and is 50/50 on his son being around crime scenes. Top-tier deduction skills and can generally predict when and where the next crime will happen. Yanqing wants to be like him the most.
Jingliu is Police lieutenant and a rank below. Her more aggressive methods make it so they won’t promote her and she doesn’t mind because she hates dealing with politics. Super skilled at a gun and a sword, and is a top-tier sniper. Just imagine her on a rooftop in the middle of the night. Puts Yanqing in martial arts classes and trains with him in the evening.
Baiheng, former infamous jewel thief who turned police consultant (Jingliu was her handler) and is ranked Sargeant. She can drive a car, she can drive it up a building if you ask her too. She can shoot, she can snipe, she can fly a helicopter, she can also identify a real and a fake piece of art just by looking. Baiheng is usually the one picking up Yanqing from school because her afternoons are free.
Yingxing is a Lieutenant and is in charge of the armory and is also the HCQ personal armored. He makes and repairs the team’s weapons, gadgets, etc. He has great deduction skills and an almost encyclopedic level of knowledge about weapons, wounds, and bullet casings. Gets very irate when people lose or damage their weapons *Jingliu*. If you’ve seen Bond or Moriarty the Patriot, he is Q. Give Yanqing whatever gadgets he wants because that’s his boy, but he is not getting a gun.
Dan Feng, I am between him being the Senior Investigator in the Forensic department or him being a consultant with multiple PhD in pharmacology, biochemistry, etc. He’s rich and has his own private lab in their home. He’s also the one who checks if Yanqing did his homework in the evening and is the person who usually drives Yanqing to school in the morning.

The culprits been caught but breaks free and grabs the gun from an officer. He meant to hit Baiheng but Yanqing gets hit instead on the shoulder.
Yanqing going to look for clues because he’s sure he missed something and the culprit is there trying to get the cash they hid in the house and runs into Yanqing. Yanqing manages to call for help before he’s injured.
Yanqing accidentally gets involved in a hostage situation. It’s not his fault they decided to hold the cafe he was at hostage and Yanqing reveals he’s the son of a high-ranking detective so they can just focus on him and not hurt other civilians. Cue Jingliu sniping the gun from the guys hand at 700 feet away.
He investigates a case he was told not to get involved in and gets hurt. When he’s scolded about it, he is so angry and confused because didn’t they want to him solve crime. Isn’t that why they kept him?

Yanqing is an expert in swordsmanship at a very young age. He’s won all the tournaments and got all the ribbons. Yanqing goes to find Apyra even though his family tried really hard to not get him involved.
He tracks them down and they get in a match. Yanqing is good but Apyra has experience and knows how to get the upper hand psychologically and brings all of Yanqing’s issues to the surface. Yanqing is defeated but he sees familiar cars pull up and heard yelling before he blacks out.
He wakes up in the middle of the night in a hospital room with the HCQ crammed in it. They wake up, they all fight and everything is revealed.
I don’t have enough time to get into it right now 😭

Dan Feng is strict on the no guns rule. I think after Yanqing gets shot, he tries to pull Yanqing from the field. No more investigating, just school and normal kid activities. So Yanqing goes and investigates on his own and stumbles upon a giant drug deal between Dan Feng’s extended family and some shady organization.
I think he’d be a regular. It’d be a cafe near the station where they used to hang out and would take Yanqing as a baby. I think he’d go there to do his homework before he’d return to see what his family is investigating.

Every time Yanqing is in the hospital, they fight. They should have done better, he shouldn’t have been there, we should keep him home. But Yanqing hates seeing them fight and he’s still a kid so he thinks it’s his fault that all of this is happening so he starts hiding when he gets hurt. But he’s too young to know how to treat wounds properly so it gets infected and now everyone is made and upset for a brand new thing.
I think Dan Feng would throw a spear if Yanqing js involved. He arrives to see them threatening Yanqing, their hold on his arm leaving a bruise and he loses it. Almost gouges one of their eyes out before Jing Yuan pulls him off the man.
There are people who held a bank hostage but the bank was in front of a police station. There are dumb criminals everywhere, but this dumb criminal is getting a sniper shot to the leg.
I think Yingxing would lose his mind if Yanqing got involved with the Stellaron hunters. He’s contacted them for information about the underworld but he is very strict about his boundaries so to see Silver Wolf and Kafka contact his son makes him terrified. I think Elio would send a message about not getting Yanqing involved because the kid is 7 but Yingxing is still nervous. I also think the others would keep quiet about his past as Blade out of respect for their former partner.
If Jing Yuan does organized crime then Feixiao’s department can do violent crime. The 2 commonly work together but Yanqing is never involved in their work until he stumbles upon a crime scene one day. He just ducks the tape and runs over to Feixiao to show them a clue her team missed. Jiaoqiu is freaking out because he’s a firm believer that children should not be on crime scenes.
I do think Dan Feng is the most overprotective. He’s having Yingxing out trackers on everything. He is the one who is always against Yanqing being at the crime scene and when Yanqing is recovering, Dan Feng is there. He will turn Yanqing’s bedroom into his office to make sure the kid doesn’t leave his bed.
Jing Yuan just appears put together buts he’s so anxious. He sees the hero worship in his son’s eyes and doesn’t know how to navigate it. I don’t think Jing Yuan would have a close relationship with his parents since they disapprove of his career and the family he found from it.
