#can i mention how cool it is to have a variation of sherlock holmes where he says stuff like this #because it’s important #and this episode is my favourite so far because it’s surprisingly accurate #and it was just great to hear him say this #because sherlock holmes is of course intelligent and a modern sherlock would know this #and even though this holmes does have that social crass and indelicacy he’s softer in some ways to the others #which is what makes him different and a new take and interesting to watch #he’s a rare fictional example of a character who is pragmatic and driven and a bit socially blunt but also has a firm moral intelligence too #just because a character can be blunt and rude and not understand that they’ve just insulted someone doesn’t have to mean #that they don’t understand right from wrong (via teacupsandcyanide)
I always reference this scene when talking about Jonny as Holmes because this is what makes him the most Holmesian Holmes since the passing of the great Jeremy Brett.
Sherlock Holmes cares about people, he cares about justice, he cares about not what is legally right but what is morally right and this scene reminds me so much of Holmes’ concern for Violet Hunter in The Copper Beeches or Violet Smith in The Solitary Cyclist or Helen Stoner in The Speckled Band all women in close proximity to abusers/potential abusers and he’s so concerned for them.
That’s Sherlock Holmes, a man concerned with justice and the protection of victims. I love Jonny’s Holmes with a passion because this is my childhood hero returned.
^ THISSSSSSSSS
I seriously just adore the Elementary version of the character SO much and this is one of the scenes that made me adore him <3

Some Know Your Rights materials I made. Hopefully find them helpful. :)
Very useful!
you know?
not everyone’s out to get us man
not everyone that messes up your pronouns or doesn’t understand our gender or sexually is questioning us about it trying to be offensive, some ask us about it to understand what’s going on and to be more aware
not everyone knows this sorta stuff, hell, i didn’t know you could be gender fluid until like two years ago, because not every teacher, not every parent educate their children on these sorta stuff not because they’re against it, but because they don’t know about it either!! when a friend of mine came out as gender fluid i was so confused!!! for 18 years i didn’t know that was even possible!!
my aunt is 36 and she didn’t know what the term “cis” meant until we went to the pride parade a month ago!!
not everyone knows about pansexuality, not everyone knows about what it’s like to be a lesbian or gay or gender fluid or to identify with a different gender or to be you!!
and i’ve seen a lot of people get really offended and aggressive on this website when someone asks a simple innocent question about it because they want to understand and i think it’d be better to just…. simply answer their questions without going off to make fun about how OMG IGNORANT they are because most of the time…. it’s not their fault! they’ve just never had contact with this kind of stuff before
i know there’s a lot of people out there trying to hurt us man, i know and i know how frustrating and horrible that is… but you know… i think sometimes we need to let our guards down
because sometimes, not everyone is out to get us
#want to know why i love this? #and this is going to sound horrible and traumatizing #but i love it because you’re not saying that the monsters aren’t real #you’re saying that there’s ways to get the better of them #there’s nothing worse than telling a child that something doesn’t exist #even the bad things#because that’s when they begin to doubt #and doubt is the main killer of imagination #so rather than saying ‘the monsters won’t get you because they don’t exist’ #you’re saying ‘i learned how to defeat the monsters and i think you’re old enough to learn as well’ #just a thought
My parents told me angels were surrounding my room; protecting it from all sides. My dad still does this when my room scares me (PTSD sucks) and it honestly helps. My dad would go into detail about how they were standing post and he would (and still does) talk to them about what their job is. When I was younger I used to picture what can best be described as traditional nutcrackers, but as humans.
If your room freaks you out for some reason, imagining something like that can help. At 26 it helps me.
This makes me want to cry because it’s so nice.
This is beautiful.
it all makes perfect sense now. and .. good question.
What Makes You Beautiful (Music Box Version)
Listeners, this just in: Dean Winchester, you know, the mechanic who works in the car lot near Old Woman Josie’s house? Well, he says that the angels (which we all know don’t exist) revealed themselves to him last night; said one of them had blue eyes, wore a dirty trench coat and helped him replace the tire on a ‘67 Chevy Impala. Apparently, other angels were there too, but they were (and I’m quoting here) “dicks.”

Night vale/SPN crossover! I’ve been wanting to do this since I listened to the first episode.

“But what a lot of parents don’t realize is that when they’re openly worrying about bills within earshot of their children, the kids worry, too. When they hit a certain age, they start to make sacrifices on the family’s behalf, and they feel guilt for the rare small luxuries they’re allowed.”
