I thought you might like these moss-filled pawprints in concrete which I saw earlier. :-)

I don’t make others feel things. I am not responsible for the feelings/emotions and actions of others. Think about your own behaviors and emotions before assigning the blame to me.
And I won’t blame myself anymore. But that doesn’t mean I assign the blame to you. Neither of you think about me anymore, so I will stop thinking of you. This does not suggest I am against communicating if someone wants to.
When I say something, I actually mean it, I’m not trying to say something to soothe.
the internet is fun sometimes but other times you see an AITA where someone is saying they think it's wrong for people with inheritable genetic conditions to have kids because it's cruel and selfish to bring a child into the world if you know they could suffer and while I typically would not wish harm on another person I start thinking that maybe Dorothy Golden Girls was right about some people needing to become very sick and very scared at least once in their lives so they can realize exactly what it's like to live in a world where people think you should have been killed as a baby to spare you and the people in your life the burden of having to deal with a disabled person existing near them and needing their help and also that you're a selfish monster for having kids
The way I see it as someone with inheritable disabilities who deeply desires to have children:
Every single person on the planet is going to struggle with something in life. Maybe it's discrimination. Maybe it's poverty. Maybe it's the lifelong consequences of a terrible accident. Maybe it's trauma. It could be any number of things.
Most of the things we struggle with are going to be unforeseeable, and we may have to carry it alone or unsupported.
But if my children happen to inherit my disabilities, I know how to navigate that. They won't have to start from zero with figuring it out the way I did (because my parents and their parents never got help; we were all just rawdogging life until I sought diagnosis & treatment). I started clawing my way out of the deep dark pit of navigating an ableist world with unmanaged disability, and my children will stand on my shoulders and feel sunlight on their faces.
That's not to say they won't still struggle with it, they most certainly will. But they will not have to cut that path or walk it alone.
*****************************************
Also, aside from it being eugenics to say that disabled people shouldn't have children, it's just bigoted.
The idea that a given group shouldn't reproduce because their offspring will have particular struggles that diverge from some unobtainable ideal life is immediately ridiculous if you sub in any other marginalized group (though you do see people [read: bigots] apply this frequently to poor people, queer people, and BIPOC as well).
Hey, OP here, thank you. I really needed to read this <3
remember when being "SU critical" was a whole ass thing and you would see posts like "why Steven Universe is fascist apologia: an essay" and "oh no, Steven Universe has inconsistent animation" unironically put up on the same blogs
