whining
okay. how does freaking ANYONE get ANYTHING done with multiple young children and any kind of mental illness/disorganisation/etc because goodness gracious even when I do have the car I am just too tired/scrambled/not together enough to get the Whole Family out to the car, to a place, out of the car to the place, through the place, back into the car, back home, back out of the car. And I have two walking children! I just find the entire process so exhausting!!
this rant brought to you by the news that a local yarn shop is in its final week before closing (time passes fast) and everything is 50% off, and once I looked at my schedule for the week I thought to myself "the only day I can really make this happen is Monday" and. my husband works a regular job.
A few months ago I ordered googly eyes for crafts… big ones. At some point in October my 7 yo decided to put them on her backpack, which honestly has brought me more joy than I can say. She’s brilliant and hilarious and I adore her.
And her creativity allows me to walk into my dining room and get stared down by this guy:
Have I ever mentioned my toddler refuses to let me put away our Halloween skeleton? It spent every night of October sleeping in her bed with her. And now it lives in her room and goes out on adventures with us.
Up until now it has had no name. I am. Highly considering getting a pair of goggles, sewing it a little outfit, and naming it Manfred

Bobby: We are not mad. We are just disappointed.
Athena: No, we are mad.
Bobby: Yes. We are. We are livid. But we are going to let this one slide.
Athena: No, we’re not!
Bobby: I am not a mind reader, Thena!
the thing about spn 3x02 "The Kids are Alright" is that the "creepy" kid basically acts like my daughter.
"play with me mommy"
"i love you mommy"
"i'm hungry mommy"
actually you know what this might be the most accurate depiction of parenting ever shown on television. yes the children are feeding off of me and sapping my blood energy and time and acting weird. of course they're banging on the door of the bathroom begging to be let in in the creepiest manner. there is always another demand. you are never alone.
unfortunately, this is just the way ~parenting~ is.
you are in a battle to the death and your job is to last as long as you can deploying boundaries and parental maturity. but they will eventually win.
Tonight was Tiny Human's first experience with trick or treating. We went to a trunk or treat event at a community center in town, and TH was confused at first but then excited. There were other little kids there, and TH seemed to really enjoy wearing a costume (Stitch!) and running around. We had to leave early, because a tired toddler is a cranky toddler, and we didn't want to spoil anyone else's fun. But, all in all, a really good way to celebrate. We all had fun.
And TH gets to wear the costume again on Monday to trick or treat at daycare 😁
