I'm way too sleepy for this, but here's something I thought about!

What if sometimes Kaminari charges himself when he feels sleepy/"low on battery"?

They changed in his Sports Festival training scene in the anime, but in the manga this is what he's doing...

This is just one of the few times Kaminari is shown using a cord to charge himself.

So I imagine that sometimes when he's low on power, he feels groggy, exhausted. Maybe carries a portable cordless charger pack (that he has decorated with like lightning bolt stickers) and a cord so when he gets like that he'll use it to power himself up. Once he's fully charged, he's probably a hyper for a few minutes before he calms down.

It's like with Iida and orange juice. Orange juice is Iida’s fuel for his Engine quirk.
