Just got back inside from watching the perseids right outside my house. Managed to catch 12 of them spanning 40 minutes. I’m surprised at myself for managing to commit to it for that long since it’s closing in on 3am, I have adhd, it was cold outside, the lights around the farm got a bit in the way, and I had to lay the hammock cushions on the ground so that I could get the best angle of the sky without hurting my neck (still managed to have it hurting a bit by the end though)

Anyways, 10/10 experience no notes

Sharing the joys of my favourite book (please read it please)

Right now over on ao3, I’ve translated my favourite childhood book from Swedish into English because it’s such an amazing story that I want more people to share it with.

Short introduction: the book is called Bröderna Lejonhjärta (lit. The Lionheart Brothers) written by Astrid Lindgren back in the 1950s. It’s a fantasy about a pair of young brothers who end up in this world called Nangijala (classified as fantasy mostly just because of the medieval-esqe setting and that one dragon, its actually an isekai now that I think about it). It touches on heavier themes like war, the looming threat of being conquered, betrayal, espionage, resistance, defeating an impossible enemy, death, mourning, but most of all brotherly love and wanting to live up to said brother. No romance or smut, obviously (the mc’s 10).

I’ve made sure to include every illustration from the book as well. They’re all there within the text and in the spots where they appear in the book. I’ve made sure to write end notes with insight on certain terms and translation decisions to give further context wherever needed.

Anyone can comment, but I don’t care if you decide not to (I don’t care about recognition, I just want to grow the fandom). But please do inform me of any errors if you spot them.

I’ve posted all 16 chapters (aka 249 pages), this project took 25 days to complete and spanned from June 29th to July 24th. It’s sitting at 51,4k words.

Usopp should be trained by Bachiko to become an archer like Iruma, maybe replace the use of mana with something like haki and I fully believe he’d benefit greatly

I’m currently volunteering at the Viking Village of Storholmen, Sweden. May I present an average evening sitting on the docks.

And a goat! 🐐 Her name’s Astrid, she’s one of two goats borrowed from the 4H farm right outside of Norrtälje. The other one is named Freja, fitting for a Viking village.

The throne she’s sitting on is the chieftess throne.
