If hellers are reporting anything at a con where there’s not supposed to be any recording. Take it with a grain of salt because 9 times out of 10 they’ve twisted it to be something it’s not.

Well guess what? Jensen didn’t actually say that in the panel Misha said that he said that. Also the only nodding Jensen did was when Misha said it was big for the show at the time. Otherwise, he sat silently the whole time, chewing gum like a madman.

There is ALWAYS two sides to a hellers story. There usually a lot of missing, edited or omitted details.

Do I wish Jensen would blatantly shut down any and all heller nonsense? Of course. We've seen for over a decade now that if you even give them something they generously interpret as an inch, they'll take five miles and keep on going.

The problem is with the cringe-worthy intentionally ambiguous queerbaiting goodbye scene being part of the canon now, where Misha and the hellers are desperately trying to sell it as some kind of revolutionary coming out story (FFS LOL)? Well, they were already screaming about Jensen being a homophobe when there was literally nothing in the show. So when Misha tries to talk up how totally onboard Jensen was to do it [X]? Like, they're talking about Misha's shitty character assassination of Castiel while Dean stares blankly into the void. Is Jensen supposed to jump in and be like, "No, I thought it was fucking stupid?" No, for the same reason he didn't demand it be removed in the first place back when Misha was making a point of telling fans he thought Jensen would shut it down but didn't. It's not even really about his character and the nutballs would (have) start(ed) another sock-fueled spam campaign calling him a homophobe. And right now? That'd be happening just as he's about to start doing publicity for a new show and does not need that showing up in the search results.

Likewise, when a fan asks about the bizarro conspiracy over that one RC song [X], he weasel-words around the question and says that sure there was some vague inspiration in some parts in there about "that story". Now the question did reportedly directly refer to Dean and Castiel, but neither said nor directly implied D/C [X]. Literally every time Jensen has ever talked about Dean and Castiel's relationship it has been about what the canon told (not showed) us it was - allies/friends/brothers/family. He just didn't add any pointed disclaimers this time. But of course hellers hear literally anything that isn't go fuck yourself as OMG DETESTIEL IS REAL, JENSEN CONFIRMS!!! (Also naturally nevermind that Steve writes most of the lyrics and this actually fits very neatly in with his description of an angel you don't actually want watching over you like an invasive creepily obsessed stalker.)

Like, Jensen has said he realized there was no point in getting upset like he used to when people interpret what they want instead of seeing what he thought was important [X]. He really doesn't need one of their tantrums being visible online right now particularly. I can understand it from that point of view, and I actually think jumping in on the first question would have been an actively bad idea instead of just blank staring into space aggressively chewing and waiting for Misha to STFU. Still, waffling so vaguely on the song question seems like exactly the way you buy yourself into having to navigate more minefield questions by crazies, convinced if they just ask one more time... But maybe when you've seen they're inevitable anyway, you figure heading off the tantrum for a while is worth it. IDK.

We need the old “Destiel doesn’t exist” Jensen back in the worst way. It’s just not going to happen any time soon. He can’t afford to have homophobic accusations thrown out there right now. Not with the Countdown premiere coming at the end of June, with a press tour leading up to it. Then with TB and VR on the horizon.

He’s going to have to stay in diplomatic mode, and all that ends up doing is allowing hellers to twist his words. Which just makes hellers act worse.

However, being diplomatic does NOT mean “making it worse”. He doesn’t need to start pandering to them even slightly. He needs to be very, very careful with his word choices when he has to address shipping related questions.

Imagine you're Misha Collins, and you start out desperate to be famous and important, so you go into politics. But you're lazy and have no success there, so you decide to try acting instead. Through insane luck, you mange to get a role on a long-running CW show that enough of a slash-happy fandom fixates on to convince TPTB you're a "fan favorite" and keep you on the show past the couple of episodes they originally signed you on for.

In fact, they keep you around for years and years long past when they have any idea what to do with your character, just to give the leads more time off. It's great! You get paid even though you go weeks and months without even being on set, and you don't even really have to try and act anymore! It gets better - you can totally rake it in on the con circuit because the show has a massive convention presence every year. You quickly figure out those most willing to spend a lot of money over and over on you above everyone else are projecting onto you, convinced you are an oppressed victim who should be the center of the show and are obsessed with imagining you/your character in sexual situations with Jensen/Dean. They go crazy whenever you drop little hints and stretch the truth, and the best part? They get pissed off at Jared, Jensen, and the show when none of it is remotely true - but you never see any consequences because you're just "joking". So your stories get wilder and wilder and less and less related to anything resembling reality and you continue to get away with it, what a lark! You even luck out and get an untalented moronic hack of a writer willing to go behind Jensen's back and write an ambiguous character assassination queerbait of a scene about "love" you think you can sell to your rubes as progressive and validating of their batshit ship theories! Sure the show is ending, but maybe you can even ride it into a new job like you rode your entrance into SPN into keeping this one! You can at least sell the sheep merch one last time before they figure out you won't be back in the finale making their ship endgame!

The problem is, even once you insincerely apologize for the potential bury your gays implications you supposedly never noticed in your oh-so-epic final scene? Sure the only people dumb enough to still believe anything you say buy it - but the rest of the fandom and GA? You know, the much bigger audience you've done a pretty good job alienating by only catering to a fringe group who will give you the most repeat money? Aren't particularly impressed. Worse, the wider internet relentlessly mocks the scene for how fucking pathetic it is in terms of where representation in other media is now and how terribly acted it is. So you don't really manage to capitalize off of it, and now you're stuck where almost nobody but the few hellers with industry related jobs will even consider hiring you - because your acting has been a joke for years and your fans are a menace. All you have left is telling ever more desperately outrageous lies to a limited number of unhinged loonies at a shrinking number of yearly conventions - including aggressively creepy, perverted, and often intentionally demeaning things about Jensen/Dean while desperately trying to paint Jared as an evil villain who abused you. While hoping against hope those stories don't break containment and make you have to do something as embarrassing as come out as straight again when your rubes run with what you say.

Not only because going to ever more outrageous extremes is the only way to keep the minions coming back now that you can't make new fake promises about what will happen in a show that's over, but also because you're that butthurt about your total and complete irrelevance. Even to your own "fans" who don't give a single solitary fuck about you unless it involves using you as a self-insert in sex fantasies about Jensen or an avatar in their crusade against everyone who didn't bend to their batshit crazy demands for which they use Jared as a stand-in villain.

It'd be a sad story if he didn't 1000% do it to himself through greed, jealousy, and laziness.
