Controversial opinon here, but I actually think the existence of content often used to radicalize young people and spread bigotry is a lot less harmful than the means in which said content is disseminated en masse. Ao3 doesn't have algorithms that advertise racist content or recommend more if you happen to read some. Compare that to youtube, which not only does exactly that but is often paid to do so. Every time I watch some left-wing youtube stuff (or especially anything critiquing christianity) I end up with tons of christian and right-wing videos recommended to me.

OMG ITS TRUE. No matter how many times I say that I'm not interested in content from the likes of say, PragerU or some other like minded producer, I STILL get ADs for it. PAID ADS. I fucking HATE IT.
