Angeline felt as if he could feel his judging stare on her. She didn’t want him to judge. Hell, he barely knew anything about her. He didn’t know that she loved Kate to the moon and back but was afraid of being unhappy and lonely if she decided to be with nobody but Kate. He didn’t know that she’d do anything for her very own angel, if it wasn’t for her need to let other hands touch her bodies some nights, just for the joy of it. Clearing her throat, she tried to pretend as if she wasn’t bothered by his eyes on her. Usually, she wasn’t. No matter how weirdly somebody looked at her, she never cared - but right now she did. “Doesn’t sound like a girlfriend then”, she replied, brushing her skirt straight as she walked, eyes focused on the soft fabric dancing around her thighs. “Rather sounds like an affair. You still in love with someone else, or why are you so anti-relationships?” The words were out before Angeline could stop them. That happened quite often to her, that she said things without thinking, intruding other’s privacy. She didn’t mean to be rude, but didn’t see the point in keeping back either. Only right now she didn’t want to turn Henry into a complaining, grumpy man again. “Sorry. Didn’t mean to say that.” Quirking her eyebrow as his husky voice, she looked around in confusion as if a wild ex-girlfriend would jump at them any second. She didn’t get it, but wasn’t in the mood to ask further about it. He seemed like the kind of guy to arouse interest but not answer the real questions. Maybe he’d surprise her, maybe he wouldn’t. His next words made her tense though. Angeline froze in her steps, fingers curling tightly around her skirt. Henry had successfully managed to hit her wound spot, and she wondered if he had done it on purpose. Inhaling a deep breath, she glared at Henry. “She knows I’m just having fun. She knows she could accompany if she wanted to. Not spending every single second of my day with her doesn’t mean that she’s less important to me.” With those words said, she started stalking off again, her steps quicker now, her heart pulsating quicker in her chest. “I don’t take anything for granted”, she mumbled through gritted teeth, but realized that maybe he was right. Maybe she did. Maybe she took Kate for granted, and maybe that would mean she’d lose her one day. And she really didn’t want that.
