fun fact: When you break things with your hands like that you have t break your fingers on purpose before so that they heal stronger. So basically this woman is so badass she broke her hands just to do this.

Martial artists like Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee (and yes, fucking Ming-Na Wen, that beautiful badass) will build up their bone strength by repeatedly (and fairly gently) striking sand, gravel, wood and steel - this creates tons of microfractures in their bones (smaller than even a hairline fracture) so the bones will heal over again and make the bones stronger and denser with increased deposits of calcium. 

This has to be done over long-ass periods of time, so the bones have time to heal, and none of the fractures expand into actual breaks. 

Oh, and she’s doing precise-ass kicks in HIGH HEELS.

Topsy-turvy day in the end really... Doing #RuntheRock without actually running the Rock Sole Motive deciding to start the 13.5km 10mins earlier than was specified so had to set off in the "2nd wave" instead Running through an absolute deluge 🌨🌫 (seriously, I've never got so soaked during a race) However finished 4th overall and ran it under an hour which were my goals 👊🏅 So onwards to #RedBull #wingsforlife #worldrun And I got to cheer on the brilliant @sarahrdoughty31 who made it through said deluge to finish her first 5km💪🏅🎉 And thank you to the volunteers out on course who were amazing battling the conditions for all 3 races and still cheering everyone on🙌👏 My favourite new @grumblebeeuk beanie came in very handy, let me tell you!! #running #runninglife #runnersofinstagram #runlikeagirl #runner #vegan #veganrunner #runcommunity #finallywarmagain #alwaysabandnerd

5 things.

one of my favourite blogs (littlewinter.net) has inspired me to start writing and as I’ve been getting a bit homesick for my family (especially my little puppy dog, Kobi) and Melbourne at the moment I decided to start a five things post.

6 Nations. I was born in Rugby so I think my love of the sport is in the blood. I support England always (even though with an Aussie accent I do tend to confuse people). I am a huge sport-lover but am an Aussie Rules girl at heart so moving to England in time for the World Cup and now the 6 Nations has been brill!

Plays, plays and more plays. Last week I saw one of my favourite actors in Laurence Fox in The Patriotic Traitor which was brilliant. And went to see AS You Like It at the National this week. But I just booked to go and see The Winter’s Tale, Cymbeline and Pericles all at the indoor theatre at the Globe to go with seeing the King and Country cycle at the Barbican earlier this year. Yep Shakespeare nerd!

Running. I love running around my local Wimbledon Common. It’s like my own little forest playground. The muddy, muddy trails are hard work, I swear I end up carrying an extra 2kg’s in mud by the end of my run! It also means I’m close to Richmond Park and can go play with the deer!

Libraries. Got a permanent library card which has made me very happy. It’s the little things. “We’re in a library! Books! Best weapons in the world!”

Sweet potatoes. Nuff said. Roasted. Stir-fried. Made into fries, I’ll have them any which way.
