i don’t think i’ll ever shut up about how soft cynthia’s elphaba is. i know she had an advantage of the camera obviously but i really do think she captured elphaba in a way no one else could. because at the end of the day, no matter how elphaba tries to come off, she just wants to fit in. she just wants to be able to take up space and not be shunned. she craves it so much that she has to convince herself she doesn’t want it. because otherwise, the pain would be too much and everyone would see her for who she truly is… just a girl who wants to feel loved. and that’s what cynthia did. you could see it. you could feel it. elphaba thropp is not some angry or callous person. she’s just lonely. she just feels small. glinda is the only person who ever made her feel otherwise. cynthia and ariana did such a good job of showing that, and ill forever be grateful for them.
