Anyone have any Scarlet Hollow fic requests? Struggling with an angle but desperate to write for it, so anything you guys have would be a godsend lol <3
like I mean this very seriously as writing advice. the character should experience events and make decisions that make them different at the end of the story. they should be changed. they do not have to be improved.
they can get worse. they can make decisions of an increasingly terrible nature. they can stop taking risks on kindness. they can discover how much they can get away with. they can find religion, or abandon it, with negative effects on their moral creed. the character has to develop. the character does not have to grow.
Sovereign Tower is so good...if you like management sims and knights, I cannot recommend it enough. You're hearing petitions and managing your own Round Table, with a cast of fantastic knights (from the deepest reaches of my lesbian soul: the lady knights good god) to send on quests, and there's a time travel mechanic, which is always a plus in my book. Also, the art is fantastic.
Kaneeka and Tabitha are like beyond characters to me they’re like patron saints that haunt me… Kaneeka patron saint of somewhat suicidal 20 somethings who feels their life is worthless because they aren’t as accomplished as they wanted to be and longs for escapism and hides all this and has a bunch of nerdy stuff with killer fashion and Tabitha is like… saint of autistic people with sexuality issues

There's so much Scarlet Hollow fic I want to write but I just inherently don't like writing player characters in fic for any game that has them unless it's like a specific metahorror exploration situation, but you can't get around the player character's existence in Scarlet Hollow neatly, so I am facing a dilemma
"Did you think I wouldn't notice you?" Theo asks, her voice warm and amused as she puts her gun to Jax's head. "I see everything on this ship."
"I see everything on the ship," a disembodied voice from the ceiling says.
"And then you tell me about it," Theo says, with a sudden hint of annoyance. "Undermine me later."
"Your ship talks?" Jax asks, eyes wide, not even a little afraid for her life. If the Pirate Queen kills her, it's worth dying.
"What stupid little idea brought you here?" Theo asks.
"I wanted to join your crew," Jax says.
"Many do," Theo says. "Why do you deserve it?"
"I'll shoot anything you want me to, I'm great at cards, I cheat like—" Jax starts, flashing the teeth she filed into points into her best smile, but Theo pushes the barrel of the gun further into her forehead, and she stops talking, but keeps smiling.
"What can you do that's actually useful?" Theo asks, and Jax's mind goes blank, looking up to the side as she tries to come up with something. She says the first thing she can think of.
"I can cook," she says, and it's somehow one of the biggest lies she's ever told in her seventeen years of lying. She's burned everything she's ever put in a pan and just eaten it anyway. Most of her meals are just raw, stolen bread.
Theo cocks her head. "You're a bad liar," she says, "but we do need a cook. Our last one tried to poison me."
"But you see everything," Jax says, and Theo smiles.
"You learn fast," Theo says. "Nia?"
"Yes, Theo," the ship says.
"Tell Nico we may have our vacancy filled," Theo says, her eyes briefly flicking up to a camera in the ceiling of the ship, then back to Jax. "I like your spirit. You remind me of myself at your age. But if you pull any shit, I'll know, and the consequences will be dire."
"How dire?" Jax asks, smiling despite herself.
"You can find out for yourself if you want to know so badly," Theo says, caressing Jax's face with the barrel of the gun, before holstering it in her belt. "Dinner's at 6:30. Make enough for everyone and make it edible."
