The Arcana Headcanons 「Physically Affectionate MC」

Asra

Yay! So is he! Physical affection was something lacking in childhood, and he never realized how much he missed it until it returned. It’s certainly become a part of his love language. 

Somehow, Asra always manages to find their way beside you -  bumping hips behind the counter… playing footsie beneath the dinner table… looping pinkies while walking… It’s not possessive, rather you’re like a tether to reality. Asra often has their head in the clouds, and that can either be good or bad. Most often, there are daydreams, but you can’t discount the nightmares. Tangibly sensing you reminds their body of the present.

Just because you’re physically affectionate, Asra never expects you to be. He’s so, so grateful that you’re willing and wanting to do that with him because it shows how much you trust him as a partner. 

Julian

Is someone finally able to cure the doctor of his chronic touch-starvationitis? Julian will never refuse a hug, or a kiss, or a nuzzle, or hand-hold, or a simple pat on the back. Yes, he will blush every time, and he will cozy into it like a cat in the sun. 

For Julian, physicality is never half-hearted. Even a short embrace holds a lifetime of love. It hurt when he realized that it’s not the same for everyone. While Julian gave without reserve, many lovers took without reserve. Plus, how often have people told him he was too much? Julian often felt like it was wrong for him to desire such physicality, labeling himself as a desperate nuisance to his lovers. As a result, he’s spent many years apologizing and correcting himself. To have you not only accept but also reciprocate his affection - it’s healing a very core part of him. 

Please, lavish him with it - not only for his sake, but for the sake of all who care about him. It’s nice to see their Ilya with a bit more life in his bones.  

Nadia

In a day, Nadia has her personal bubble invaded more times than she can count. From greeting diplomats to comforting her people, she throws out affection like confetti. It’s ironic that when it comes to more personal moments that Nadia loses her nerve.

Yes, she can be sensual, but the tiny hand squeezes when passing each other in the hall… the kisses to her forehead while she dozes off a migraine… the koala hugs you greet her with after returning from travels… those make her brain short circuit. 

Life is often too busy to indulge in such simple pleasantries, but it’s also too short to pass them by. She’s grateful that you’ve gifted her something that no amount of her royalties ever could.

Muriel

We all know Muriel's struggle with touch. His trauma tells him that he’s a killer… that his body was designed for harm… that all good things come to an end and oftentimes, that end is by his own hand. He will pull away from you because allowing himself to be loved goes against nature itself - at least the nature that was scripted for him in the Colosseum. 

Go slow… he needs the challenge, as well as the space to process. Once he figures it out, he will lean into it because at the end of the day - Muriel wants that script to be rewritten.

Muriel is a very sense-driven person. With the way he interacts with his surroundings, the experience of having you close would be a full-body one. The smell of your hair… the ebb and flow of your body… the rhythm of your breath… all of his senses are activated, and it’s damn euphoric. He hates that people tried to steal such an experience from him, but he’s proud that they didn’t win.

Portia

Smother her. If she dies from lack of oxygen in kisses, then it would be a life well-lived.

It must be something in the blood because Portia also loves with her entire mind, body, and soul. However, unlike her brother, she’s not as touch-starved or rather… she’s not as touch-desperate.

Portia’s emotional intelligence and “don’t mess with me” resilience has allowed her to protect her heart despite her desire to love and be loved. It’s a dream-come-true to finally find her better half, since she’s been waiting for this moment for what seems like a millennia. 

Even better, she’s had a millennia to daydream about this moment and imagine a million ways to reciprocate your affections. She doesn’t mind you hanging onto her hip as she bakes, and she’s itching to lay you on her lap with a good book. I think all of Vesuvia would agree that you are the cutest couple in town, and if there’s ever a day that you’re not holding hands in the market, then surely the Devil has returned and the world is upside down. 

Lucio

It was all fun and games until he realized the genuineness behind your actions.

Lucio is the king at waxing his affections, but he can’t say that it was always genuine.  At the end of the day, Lucio wanted to be loved, and all he did was to gain that love. He gave in order to receive. The thought of loving someone simply to love wasn’t a concept. If the person didn’t reciprocate, then what was the point?

But on the days that you snuggle in bed when he’s too tired to open his eyes… when you give him kisses after he says something snarky… the moment you hug him after an argument that was absolutely his fault… 

He realizes that you have no other intention except his pleasure. It is a form of love that is so unadulterated that he refuses to reciprocate until he knows he’s not being half-assed about it.

My opinion won't be the most popular, but it's what I saw, felt, and perceived when I played The Arcana. The first route I played was Julian's, and from there I formed my initial impressions of all the characters. And while I found Lucio despicable at the time (that opinion has since changed), I could say the same about Asra. I'm not convinced by this idea of a man who solves all my problems. To me, it seems to embody the cliché of the white knight who saves the princess and they live happily ever after. Of course, all the characters are walking clichés. I didn't like the way he treated Julian; I think he mistreated him unnecessarily, taking advantage of the attraction he felt for him, of his need for affection. Obsessed with reviving the MC, he trampled over all his friends, involving them in a ritual that, if altered, would have unknown consequences. And he didn't even stop the Devil; he only delayed him for a few years. I think his priority was to screw over Lucio and, of course, revive the person he depended on by exploiting that same dark ritual. He did his bidding without seeing beyond it. And for what? He spent more time traveling alone than with the MC, confusing him with his contradictory signals. He could have simply ruined the ritual to stop a potential danger to the world, not just Vesuvia. That way, Nadia wouldn't have lost three years, Julian wouldn't have been accused of a crime he didn't commit, losing his memories along the way, and having to flee with the assassins' mark on his hand. Portia wouldn't have had to search for him and try to clear his name. Muriel wanted to be forgotten, but he distanced himself from Asra when he revived the MC. It's not my intention to make him a villain, because he isn't. He's an imperfect person, just like the other characters. With an anxious attachment to the losses in his life. He became an orphan when Lucius took his parents away; overnight, everything he thought was safe was taken from him. He lost his only friend within the walls of the Colosseum, again because of Lucius. I'm not even criticizing him for hating the Count of Vesuvia; it's understandable. I'm just saying he's not perfect. He could have done some things better, treated the MC and his friends better in general.

Dr. Julian Devorak arrives on Vesuvia as an apprentice to Nazali Satrinava. Although his medical knowledge was already quite extensive, thanks to his long travels with her. He meets Jinx, Asra's apprentice. After a somewhat awkward start, they become friends. This friendship is later joined by Lucio, Count of Vesuvia. Julian and Jinx had several things in common, unlike Lucio. Both were of humble origins, and each, in their own way, knew how to heal people's ailments, seeking to alleviate the suffering of others, sometimes at their own expense. Julian taught Jinx to dance; she seemed to have a natural talent for it. They enjoyed themselves immensely on those occasions. And in time, she became his medical apprentice and his staunchest defender against Valdemar, despite the fact that he terrified her. They greatly enjoyed each other's company until she contracted the plague and retreated to Lazareth to die. It is Julian who notices her absence and, gripped by a bad feeling, goes to her house to look for her. There he finds only Asra. Faust, the magician's familiar, tells him where she is. They both go to the island, but it is too late. They hear her last words and watch her die, powerless to stop it. In that sorrowful moment, the doctor becomes aware of his feelings for her. He had fallen in love with her, and now it no longer mattered because she no longer existed in this world.

Soldgud was a very ingenious wizard who arrived in Theyrm when it was just a village. He helped the city grow and prosper. He created magic circles capable of transporting people and heavy loads to distant points within the city. Through alchemy, he created gloves capable of absorbing and storing sunlight. When he touched an object with them, it acquired the gloves' properties during the day and was illuminated by that light at night. It so happened that some people disagreed with the wizard's free use of the object. They wanted it for themselves. They tried to steal them, but only managed to get one. Both gloves had to be together to function. Disappointed, Soldgud retreated to the summit of one of the snowy peaks surrounding the city to live in solitude. Undeterred, they sent a dark wizard after him. No one knows what happened up there. A great bolt of lightning struck the summit, and instead of falling on the city, it hovered above it. Since then it has been there, far from the reach of people, with its secrets firmly hidden.

During the first months of Jinx, Julian, and Lucio's adventures, they arrived at a city called Theyrm. Its most remarkable features were the natural fortifications that made it inaccessible to any outside attack. Its streets were illuminated at night by streetlights that absorbed sunlight during the day. And then there was its floating island. It was said that the island was born after a lightning bolt struck the summit of one of the snowy peaks surrounding the city. This was caused by a wizard's experiments inside a cave in that very place. But the true story was much darker, as the trio would discover when they were approached by an ambitious man who offered them a job.

After reuniting with Jinx, though she doesn't actually remember him, Lucio regains his normal form thanks to the magic she performs for him. With the minor detail of tying him to herself. They both leave the Palace, as Lucio wants to play with Mercedes and Melchior in the gardens. On their way, they run into the Palace Chamberlain. No one except Jinx can see Lucio, so he decides to play a trick on the poor man. He steals the feather from his hat and tickles him with it. Then he takes the papers from his hands and throws them into the air. Jinx walks past him trying not to laugh, but she fails somewhat. Finally, they both reach the outside, and she can no longer contain her laughter. Then Lucio tells her a little about their shared past, triggering a terrible headache in her. He touches her with his left arm, trying to help her, and with a flash of light, the pain disappears, and Lucio becomes momentarily tangible. Thus begin their journey to unravel mysteries that have deep roots in the past of the Count of Vesuvia.

Lucio and Jinx met at the Palace through Nadia's mediation. At first, she felt intimidated by his presence. However, she discovered a side of the Count of Vesuvia that probably no one else had ever seen. He liked to tell stories of his days as a mercenary, and she liked to listen. Julian, who also had interesting and amusing stories, joined them in these conversations. Lucio felt comfortable with Jinx, and she with him, despite him being the ruler of the city. They were like two children playing when they were together. No one had to pretend. Over time, she began to urge him to learn new things and face his responsibilities. Jinx had faith that he could change for the better. Lucio didn't quite understand why someone would speak to him like that. Initially, he felt uncomfortable, but little by little, he began to do more and more of what she asked, because she asked him to. And very slowly, a change began to take place in Lucio. Then the plague invaded Vesuvia. He argued with her for being a selfish fool, and although he regretted it almost instantly, he could never see her again. Jinx died of the plague, and he never found out. He spent his years as a ghost thinking about her and how much he missed her. Discovering that he was in love with her, would he ever have the chance to tell her?

Ilya, better known as Dr. Julian Devorak, lost his family in a shipwreck during a colossal storm. Only he and his sister, Pasha/Portia, survived. Fortunately, they were taken in by kind people who gave them a home. However, this event would shape Julian's view of life itself. Losing almost everything in an instant led him to want to control everything, to be the one who always solved problems, even at the expense of his own well-being. His life was disposable if it meant others could live. Drama was his way of expressing what he felt inside: I decide what trouble I get into and how I get out of it because I'm in control. He is a good person, kind, generous, and his desire to help others led him to study medicine. Many times he didn't even charge for his services; if he had any, he gave his patients the medicine they needed. When the red plague strikes Vesuvia, he fiercely wants to find a cure because he doesn't want the city to suffer, not for his friends to die. Jinx, his apprentice, dies from the plague, and he feels immensely guilty. He loved her, but he knew he would never have the chance to tell her. However, that wasn't the case. Eventually, he did get the chance. Julian represents, for me, those who carry heavy burdens trying to help and care for their loved ones, even when they themselves are broken inside. They smile, yet their souls weep. They help, and they are the ones who need help the most.

The city of Avalon is popularly known as the City in the Mist. This is the home of Jullein, where he serves as a temporary guide. However, after Lucio, Julian, and Jinx arrive here searching for the necromancer who threatens to destroy the world, Jullein agrees to become the next leader. He confronts the sorceress disguised as one of his own kind, and the Stone of Legend grants him the spear Gáe Bolg. He doesn't defeat her, but he drives her away. In Avalon, there is very strong and ancient magic emanating from the fairies who inhabit its forests. They take Jinx and transform her into a child.

M6 at Pride™️ Headcanons

Very quick and general headcanons for what the M6 do at a Pride Festival/Parade lmao enjoy

Asra

Covered in body glitter (and not much else), will be leaving a sparkly trail behind him every where he goes

Watches the parade just to boo at the corporation floats and collect as much free beads and paraphernalia as possible while drinking a fruity little beverage

Is definitely making out with at least three (3) people by the end of the night, probably during the fireworks

Julian

Brought extra water and sunscreen and bandaids for everyone else but absolutely neglects to follow his own advice and will need to be treated for heat exhaustion at some point

Gets roped into some performance on a stage and kills it - drag queen Julian when

Hosts and wins (barely) a drinking game but yes please some help getting home would be appreciated

Nadia

Enjoys the festivities but prefers to watch the parade from the shaded outdoor balcony of a restaurant where she can sip her drink and wave a flag or clack a fan demurely

Buys herself/her friends/her partner whatever they want from vendors, though she ends up getting a lot of things for free

Somehow finds the best, most private spot to watch the fireworks at the end of the night and invites the rest of the group to join her

Portia

Having the time of her Life, wearing pasties and glitter and maybe she burns a little bit but it could be much worse

Clacking her fan like her life depends on it for every passing float, will have no voice the next day

Spends wayyy too much money on vendors but yes she absolutely needs all of the tacky resin earrings and hey she’s supporting queer small businesses what else do you want from her

Muriel

Only went to make sure Asra had a sober ride home but okay maybe some of this isn’t too bad everyone is so happy and maybe it rubs off a little

Finds a few little trinkets he takes home, like a wolf-shaped crystal necklace and some treats for Inanna

Ends up with a pride flag over his shoulders like a cape by the end of the night and some of Asra’s glitter on his face

Lucio

Finds his way on the biggest loudest float somehow and will chuck beads and flowers and whatever else the float has way too hard at everyone watching

Gets sunburned horribly because he swears he put sunscreen on but doesn’t understand Once is not enough and that jockstrap is not nearly enough coverage

Has the Biggest hangover the next day but he has no Ragrets and will tell anyone who will (or won’t) listen about being hoisted up in the air by drag queens

I know many people detest Montag, a.k.a. Lucio Morgasson. So I'm going to play devil's advocate and defend him a little. I'll start by saying that I love the character. And yes, he committed many atrocities. But before you burn him at the stake, think for a moment about his childhood. He was born in a land where life is very harsh. His mother, Morga, didn't know how to show affection, not even to her own son, except when she spoiled him. That is, when she saved him from illness, from drowning, from a bear—in short, from danger. That's what mothers do. But for her, it was weakness, and she threw it in her son's face every chance she got, to point out how weak he was. Thus, Montag developed a tendency to avoid his mother's scoldings and the consequences of his early actions. He had no sense of belonging to his family. How could he, when everything they said to him was meant to belittle him? And, by extension, he didn't feel like he belonged to his community. He lived aggressively seeking the affection that had been denied him since birth. And I'm inclined to think that perhaps he was neurodivergent, probably ADHD; that's why he was constantly bored. And that's also why he went down the wrong path. People with this type of neurodivergence pay attention to a million details and don't engage with any of them. Restrictive social norms rub them the wrong way and drive them to pointless rebellion. There goes lack of affection + ADHD. Excessive limitations make people incapable of making good decisions because there's always someone telling them what, how, when, and why to do something. Montag despised his past so much that he changed his name to try to break free from it. How many can say that in the same circumstances they wouldn't have done the same thing, or even worse? Tyrants, genocidal maniacs, and criminals have emerged in real life for far less. This has gone on a bit. I'll continue another time.
