Well I asked the host of the community radio station of a small desert town and he said "Don't let numbers tell you what to do. You are blood and earth, not theory and chalk", so maybe think about that.
to me, there's an innate horror in tradwife content. it's always a pretty young girl in her late teens, early 20s. she's so young. she's basically a baby herself. maybe she's about your age. you just watch it happen. you can't save her.
either way, she always has at least three kids, sometimes more. you don't want to ask when she had them, but she had to have them young because her youngest had to have been born when she was at least seventeen based on how time works. you just watch it happen. you can't save her.
she's smiling but there's something missing in her eyes - a spark that should be there. there's no passion, there's just the movements of the day. sometimes she'll give an interview where she says she barely feels like getting out of bed, and other times she says nothing. you just watch it happen. you can't save her.
her world isn't real - it's neat kitchens and made from scratch cheese. she tells you how she doesn't need feminism because she likes this life, she likes wearing pretty dresses, don't you dare pity her. you just watch it happen. you can't save her.
you scroll up to an ex tradewife in her forties talking about how her husband divorced her and left her for a younger girl, leaving her destitute and penniless and twenty years out of the workforce. you scroll again to a pretty young girl saying she doesn't need a job, her husband will take care of her. you scroll again. you just watch it happen. you can't save her.
another woman, this time in her early thirties, talking about how she just managed to leave her abusive husband and has nothing and he took the kids, warning and pleading young girls to not fall for tradwife lies. you scroll again to a young tradwife girl saying that would never happen to her, and you're just jealous of her. you just watch it happen. you can't save her.
you scroll again. a teen girl tells you that she'll just track her period, she doesn't NEED a toxic chemical like birth control. you scroll again to an obgyn pleading with young girls to understand birth control is just hormonal, and that period tracking isn't effective. you just watch happen. you can't save her.
you scroll again, and it's jd vance saying how women belong in the homes and shouldn't be allowed to vote. that their husbands should decide how they should vote. you scroll again to a domestic abuse counselor telling women their vote is private and they can lie to their husbands. you just watch it happen. you can't save her.
she doesn't want you to save her. how dare you pity her. you just watch it happen. you can't save her. a horrible feeling washes over you. you just watch it happen.

With the holidays here, thought this is worth sharing
This website is still here and some of the asks are heartbreaking. Like “Jamie wants a new pair of jeans because he’s never had new clothes before”. Or “Kayla wants a bag with her name on it for when she moves foster homes again.”
A lot of these kids ask for brand name clothing and it sounds pretentious but having one nice new fashionable piece of clothing means a lot when all your previous clothes have come out of black trash bags from charities.
Btw, you can filter wishes based on gender, age, price, etc to help you find the perfect wish for you. This charity is LGBTQ-affirming (unlike a lot of religion-based charities that are unfortunately homophobic), so you can even look for nonbinary kids to donate to.
Also, I would really encourage people to be open to granting wishes made by older foster kids (14+) or young adults who aged out of the system and still lack family support. They’re so often forgotten.
If you don’t have a lot of money but still want to help give a kid a nice Christmas, there are lots of wishes that are $24 for stocking stuffers as well, or $15 for a sqishmallow!
https://www.onesimplewish.org
I just want to add that right now, there are so many pending wishes for food. Kids are asking for food from the universe (and yeah, “kids” includes young adults just entering the work force–eighteen and hungry is just as morally wrong as eight and hungry).
I think that like. Look. I don't really want to get into an arugment about the ethics of violent action. But I will say that from a stance of pure messaging, going up against black bloc protestors gives law enforcement a chance to look cool and tough and macho. But trying to fight a bunch of guys in inflatable frog suits doing the cha-cha slide makes them look like fucking morons. Especially when they have to go on TV and act like the guys in frog suits are a national security threat. They look like little babies that are scared of sports mascots, and the longer they do it the more support they lose.
He was in the capitol on January 6th but he's scared of something Seattleites take their children to see every summer solstice.
#it has its place I think but the issue is that its like...the only thing happening#its that and people standing there filming yelling thats illegal while these fuckers disappear a guy in front of them#its not enough on its own
It's...really not the only thing that's happening?
McCook residents file lawsuit aimed at stopping ICE detention facility
A bunch of people who "self-deported" are suing ICE for violating their protected status
Another bunch of groups are suing ICE
Chicago is requiring ICE agents to wear bodycams; other cities will probably follow
California is banning ICE from wearing masks; other states will probably follow
and meanwhile:
American support for legal immigration is at a record high (and here's another one)
The raids are increasingly unpopular and independents hate it
and that's before we get into national guard deployment.
The protests the other day were the single biggest mobilization of peaceful protesters in America since 1970.
If you think that's not extremely important you are a fucking moron. Literally if they were the only thing happening they'd still be bigger than protests against the Iraq War.
If you are downplaying this, you're a collaborator. Shut up.
Relentless protests by students, faculty, and staff at universities have led to multiple universities rejecting the compact Trump wanted them to sign. Seven of the nine universities initially approached have rejected it, even some with conservative administrations who clearly kinda wanted to sign it. I feel awful for students at UT Austin and Vanderbilt, and they now have to take new avenues of making life difficult for the administration that caved. And they are doing that.
Professors I know have taught classes to undergrads about intersex people and the variability of both sexual characteristics and gender identities across world cultures, and told the students, "If the compact is signed, I couldn't teach this lecture. The government doesn't want you to know about this. They think you need to be kept away from this, that you can't make up your own minds."
Dozens of reporters publicly left the Pentagon rather than agreeing Pete Hesgeth's rules that would restrict who they could talk to and what they could report, including Fox News.
Community groups are rallying to track ICE actions and warn their neighbors about ICE, block ICE access to buildings they have no warrant for, and make loud disruptive noises all night at the hotels ICE are staying at.
Indigenous nations on the US-Canada border are testing the boundaries of state economic control in the face of the ridiculous tariffs by doing their own tariff-free commerce on their land.
Trump's desired coal mining goals keep getting stalled by judges, environmentalists, Indigenous groups, and Biden- and Obama-era legislation. A different metal mining project Trump is trying to push through is being stalled by different Indigenous groups, forcing the government and government-backed corporations to negotiate on Native Alaskans' terms, and the fact that they aren't is making investors balk.
Various people are doing things in various ways, but it's the "protest whose goal is making the news" that is making the news. Because that was its goal. It's just one of a bunch of things that different people are doing! And you might not be a tenured college professor or a Pentagon reporter or a UT Austin student, but there are probably things you can do, too. And one thing a lot of people can do is go to protests.
it's always a good day to complain about English speakers
Important addition: Maria Skłodowska-Curie was born during partitions, which means Poland didn’t exist, which means her insistence that she was Polish was a significant act of defiance against the occupation, which means that you should respect that instead of arguing that ‘well she had French citizenship’. She couldn’t have Polish citizenship despite being Polish, that’s kinda the point she was making by keeping her maiden name and naming a chemical element she discovered ‘Polonium’ .
HOW TO PRONOUNCE: Skłodowska
L with a dash through it (ł) makes a “W” sound. and W makes a “V” sound.
skwo-DOV-ska
thank you for the pronunciation guide!
If you live in the USA and you're pleading for donations to pay your rent, bills, or get food then dial 211! Please dial 211 before the last minute!
It's a toll free service with people who will help you find programs in your community to pay those bills, find food, and find housing! They will give you numbers to call so you can get help.
It is not 100% foolproof. Their job is to direct you to a program they believe will help your current issue, but it's still a step up from praying random strangers online will give you enough cash before a deadline! The added benefit of these community programs, which get funded by the local government most of the time, is if there are more people using them then they can get more money to help more people.
You're not taking resources from other people if you use your community services. Your taxes pay for them. Use them.
Dial 211 first to see if they can help, and if for some reason they can't, then make your donation posts!
https://www.211.org/
Hi I work for my state's 211 service. It really breaks my heart how many people only know to call us at the last minute. 211's can provide a whole wealth of resources to use before things ever get to a cut off utility, eviction, or homelessness!
I can't speak for all 211's but most should also have a website detailing all the agencies in their database. if you don't like phone calls, this can be something to reference instead.
If you don't have health insurance but you need to see a doctor, reference 211! We list clinics that provide free or discounted general care, vision, and dental services to low income households and people without insurance! Many hospitals also have financial aid policies that can severely reduce your bill if you had an expensive procedure!
If you're stuck in a dead end job or need educational resources reference 211! There are a lot of programs focused on providing basic adult education as well as trade skills or other high demand fields! State governments are generally more interested in funneling people into work than providing benefits, but you can still use this to your advantage especially if you have some form of disability but are still able to work. That includes if you're neurodiverse or have mental health issues! Most of these programs are extremely underutilized.
If you believe you qualify for public benefits but the bureaucracy of the process is in your way, reference 211! There are agencies specifically geared towards helping people obtain the benefits they qualify for- for free!
If you need help with your taxes-
If you need help finding a pro bono lawyer-
If you need help finding affordable housing/section 8 housing-
If you need help finding food pantries-
If you need help paying for your prescriptions-
If you need help obtaining disability aids or assistive technology-
If you need help finding transportation options-
If you need help following a natural or personal disaster (like a home fire)-
If you need help repairing a home you or your family owns or it needs modifications to be accessible-
If you need Queer resources-
Reference your 211!!!!!
I had no idea what 211 was before working for it but I wish I had. I've learned so much about what resources are actually available to the community even in a ho hum area of the country like my state. I've saved my partner literally thousands of dollars just from the medical resources I've gathered.
Not enough young people know about or utilize these services but they are there for you!
P. S.
This isn't an intended use of 211, but I like to reference the agency listings when I look for jobs. Many of the agencies listed are non-profits which, while they certainly are not perfect, generally have lower barriers of entry to decent paying jobs with benefits. The work environments tend to be much kinder and at least pretend to be forward thinking. You're more likely to find jobs without as many people applying as well, especially if they're only advertising their positions through their own website.
Get help paying bills, finding food, and locating other resources near you. Call 211 now for confidential help from a caring expert.
“natural immunity is good for kids” is my least favorite antivax pro-baby kissing phrase because. actually no. simple childhood illnesses can cause major lifelong disabilities. happened to me. happened to JFK. not to mention the millions of children in cemeteries across the globe who died from preventable and treatable common childhood ailments. “natural immunity” is not better than vaccine related immunity and getting kids sick when reasonable precautions could prevent it is bad.
The expectation that you will refer to a trans person by their preferred pronouns and name is not them ‘forcing you to accept them’ it is basic respect. You don’t have to like trans people, you don’t have to ‘believe’ our identities or whatever. You do have an obligation to treat us like people, though. If you had a 40 something cis male coworker named Bill and you repeatedly, pointedly and aggressively called him ‘Shirley’ and exclusively used she/her pronouns to refer to him, that would be a major HR problem. It is not persecution to have to show basic human decency.
State terrorism charges have been dropped against Luigi Mangione. He is still on trial for the lesser charge of 2nd-degree murder.

WONDERFUL to hear on 1,221 days left
reminder: keep up with saying he IS NOT THE UHC SHOOTER, they haven't proven that he is, keep insisting he and the UHC shooter are separate entities.
Important reminder- thank you
I mentioned this to my mother the other day, that i dont think he even did it, and she pulled a "wtf" face and was like "how did you come to that conclusion" so I laid out the various things that don't add up and the glaring procedural fuck ups and the targetted campaign to make everyone think he's guilty.
At one point she goes "ok, but hold on - if he didnt do it then why did he confess?" She was FLOORED when I told her that he hadn't. That he has maintained his innocence since the start.
And this is my mother, who is usually across this kind of thing. She had no idea about the missing bodycam footage that happens to align with the time they took his backpack out of sight before bringing it back and opening it for the """"""first""""" time and finding the supposed evidence inside.
She straight up thought that HE was the one who called himself in. Thought he'd gone to Macca's for a last burger then called the cops on himself and confessed. When she learned that wasnt true, she was SHOCKED.
Keep talking to people about this. Keep reiterating that they havent found him guilty of anything yet, and that they've breached his rights in several different ways since arresting him, and that he and the UHC shooter are almost certainly different people.
Too many people think that he confessed. Too many think that he's guilty, when the odds are good that he VERY MUCH IS NOT.
what do you mean elon musk did a nazi salute on live tv at the united states presidential inauguration twice and is now erasing the evidence off the internet by replacing the footage with the crowd cheering instead?
would be a shame if people reblogged this, wouldn’t it?
"In case anyone missed it, the tuberculosis outbreak in Kansas has now spread to Ohio.
[The Republican Administration] has ordered the CDC to not report on this"
Reminder for when he “saves” it. He was the one who wanted this, and now he gets to be the hero and win favour with young constituents. Don’t give him the credit for fixing his own problem.
