The binturong of suspicion
asked one of my coworkers how she's doing today and she goes "could be better, could be worse," and another coworker nearby who was eavesdropping chimes in with "could be a lil bit o' alligator curse!" i have no idea what he meant by that but i do know that it has been immediately added to the lexicon.
I assure you: somebody, somewhere, is on the exact same wavelength as you are.
common advice for social anxiety is to tell yourself "people aren't going to think less of you just because you said something a bit daft" but the thing is. sometimes they will. and you just have to learn to be cool with that and to treat it as a dnd random encounter rather than letting it ruin your whole day
recent example. lady at my careers appointment had a post-it with her name on it stuck to the monitor, so i introduced myself by saying "hello, i'm eliot! you must be [name], it's nice to meet you!" and she stared at me as if i was the stupidest person alive and said icily, "yeah, i'm [name]. congratulations, you can read."
in bygone times this would have reduced me to a sort of quivering blancmange. thankfully i am now in a place where i was able to pull back, calmly evaluate this interaction, and say to myself "this woman should probably not be working in a customer-facing job"
important additions!!!!
Sometimes learning "wow, that person is a DICK" is the best thing for your social anxiety.
Iāve been meaning to draw a companion piece to my Fire Nation train print for AGES, and this year was the perfect year to revisit the Gaang! āŗļø Debuting at my SDCC artist alley table HH-24!
More Artfight !!
I first started watching it without sound and I had a little internal monologue going like "shit, where'd I leave the remote, god damnit, okay no not in there, argh the commercial just WON'T END, where's the fuckin..."
but the actual sound is even better.
