i have been having this debate back and forth with my friends recently and i'd love to know the general consensus!!

** so for example, pulp's 2025 album would still count because that's when they were at their peak, even though the songs themselves were not made during said peak

sooo…. i’d say britpop is most british music made in the 1990s (in the charts i suppose), so it counts morrissey/paul weller etc, it also has a small amount of years before and after 1990/1999 - so like the stone roses’ self titled album, maybe even gorillaz self titled. there are obvs the big five which are britpop in pretty much any context (blur oasis pulp suede elastica) but i would say it’s not so much about the band as it is the music, since i’ve heard the cardigans and garbage called britpop (non british origin but VERY popular in 90s britain)

as for the pulp thing, i’d say more isnt britpop, but it is made by a britpop band? bc britpop was only really created in that time period (i don’t have a defined one rlly but like 1989-1999/2000)

however, i am only a 14 year old girl, i am not a fan above any other, and this is just my opinion!! (:
