Before I start, I truly want apologise for legitimately disappearing for the last couple of months.
Calling them hell would be a bit of a stretch but a mess would be putting it nicely; in all honestly I don't even know where to begin with the explanation but I really am sorry for being so inactive.
I can't promise any new posts besides the ones in my drafts from early last year, but I'll slowly be getting back into writing.
Pairing | Al-Haitham, Cyno, Kaveh and Tighnari (separate) x Reader
Author’s Note | Try as I might, I couldn’t get this out of my head
CW/TW | Mention of death in Tighnari's part, but it's really him just being shady.
Synopsis | Making flower crowns with Sumeru’s men.
'It can't be that difficult' was his initial thought seeing as the diagrams were quite simple to understand...
Needless to say, the scribe thought very wrong.
After multiple failed attempts he eventually resumed his reading with a defeated huff, leaving you hysterically laughing, it wasn't every day you saw the aloof Haitham frustrated.
The next morning he tried again, remembering your little tips and found that it was never that deep difficult. Then again a good cup of coffee always fixed everything. Soon enough he had multiple crowns laying on the table beside him as he idly paged through some records -waiting for you to arrive.
Suffice to say, you were pretty surprised upon your arrival... Actually, that was an understatement, it shocked you out of your wits to see how pretty they were, almost as if he had years of practice under his belt.
—————
"What the actual hell?" You gaped at their perfection as you looked through the bunch, admiring the flower's unique scents and beauty.
"book learning alone cannot–" He started, smirking as he flipped the page.
"Please don't start with another lecture."
Cyno is surprisingly good at it. I mean, he'll miss a loop here and there but after a few more tries he's smiling at you like a little idiot.
It'll become sort of a thing between the two of you. Whenever you had a moment to spare, you'd find yourselves combining different varieties of flowers and when you'd meet again you would go through this little presentation -essentially trying to outdo the other. He’s just competitive like that
At the end of your little showcase, you'd exchange crowns and wear them around until they wilted.
For the record, he really loves the crowns you make. At one point, he forgot he was wearing one until he noticed none of the other Matras could keep their eyes off of his head
Flower puns ensued throughout the rest of the meeting.
—————
"I'm telling you once and floral, don't stop beleafing. Just like I rose to the occasion, you can too!"
He used to weave flower crowns when he was a kid and you can't tell me otherwise.
He eventually stopped, but after you asked him to teach you, he was pleasantly surprised to find that he still remembers the patterns and tricks.
Needless to say, this becomes something of a pastime for the two of you, when he's not swamped with work...which is rarely.
Though you love the process of making a crown every once in a while, the best part most definitely lies in seeing him wearing it.
He’d look so pretty wearing a flower crown...help.
He also adores seeing you wear his crowns he secretly incorporated your favourite flower crown in one of his designs. So don’t be surprised to find a familiar pattern on the rim of a chandelier or a decorative ceiling.
—————
“Isn’t this your model?” You questioned, examining the small cluster of Sumerian styled spires.
Without looking up the blond hummed, dosing off on the seat besides you. “I finished it this morning.”
“Wait, these facia boards—“
“I liked the pattern you made the other day, I thought it would suit the aesthetic I was going for.” He mused, “I was wondering when you were gonna notice.”
Tighnari, much like Kaveh, probably taught you how to weave the flowers, telling you facts about each of them as his fingers nimbly formed a crown at record speed.
Honestly, he'd be the type to congratulate you after your first attempt but correct you like one of his pupils don't mind his swishing tail, he's trying to act like he's not elated to be sharing an old hobby with you.
After you really got into it, he'd sometimes send you flowers whenever he travelled with a little note describing how to look after the bouquet –turn the card over and you'll find a small pressed flower attached.
He expects you to hone your skills with different flowers -to ‘master your new talent,’ in his words.
It's really an excuse for him to send you pretty flowers.
He’ll also wear the crowns you make, but unlike the rest he’ll be extremely nonchalant about it too.
Giving a lecture to some curious Academia students? The crown stays on.
Checking up on some of the plants at Pardis Dhyai? Why’d he even consider removing it?
Clearing a withering zone? The flowers withered. He returned his ears hanging low, please make him a new one.
Of course, the flowers stayed on as he scolded a group of reckless adventurers as well.
—————
Four adventurers sat before a rather livid Tighnari who, try as he might, couldn’t refrain from giving them a mouthful.
“I mean, how can you look at a random mushroom on the ground and think ‘Hey this colourful mushroom that I’ve never seen before looks particularly delicious, let me eat it!’ I understand that you can get hungry while on the road, but you can’t eat anything if you're dead. You’ll have better luck looking for a Forest Ranger! I mean really what if I didn't—“
The silence was deafening as the Chief Officer’s ears twitched in aggravation before he sighed in defeat. “At least try to not look at my ears. Yes it’s not an everyday sight and yes the colours of the flowers are vibrant… are you even listening!?”

CW/TW | Mentions of breakups and arguments
Synopsis | He realises what he had, and what he lost.
Ayato was so sure of himself, adamant that he wouldn't bat a single eyelid if you were to walk past him.
See, the head of the Kamisato clan is a stubborn man and with your last argument still relatively fresh in his mind, his confidence was not misplaced. He could have easily ignored your presence when he saw you strolling past him hand-in-hand with another man —had this encounter been in the first week following your breakup.
A part of him couldn't believe it, two months later and you seemed happier with that man than you ever did when you were still with him.
He hated it, not because you didn't deserve all the love and joy in the world but because he wasn't the one giving it to you. He wasn't the one pressing a tender kiss to your temple nor had he ever made you smile as radiantly as you are now.
It was then that the realization occurred to him —it was never you.
It was never your fault, never your habits and never your clinginess.
It was all him and now that he saw someone else appreciating the blessing that he had and disregarded, he finally understood that that inky feeling in his gut was never antipathy.

CW/TW | Al Haitham’s mean :(
Synopsis | Flinching away from him during an argument.
The line between distance and disregard is a fine one, something that Al Haitham seemed to have overlooked. The Scribe -who lives off of rationality as if it were air, found that space seemed to be the most efficient means towards a peaceful resolution during conflict, yet it all turned sour somewhere down the line and worst of all, its toxicity was so steadily progressive that it only became noticeable when it was nigh impossible to ignore it.
Several arguments had passed without any form of resolution and with every person in the Academia five seconds away from an aneurysm, as Acting Grand, Sage Al Haitham was not in the best of moods.
~~
“Haitham.” You called from behind the door, patiently waiting with his lunch in hand, yet silence was all that ensued in the following moments, thus you called again, a little louder this time…still nothing.
Deciding to try your luck at entering you turned the handle, perhaps he had an errand to run and was out for a bit, you thought.
Fortunately, the door was unlocked, and lo and behold sat Al Haitham at his desk, hair slightly tousled and his cape laying on the couch. He looked up at you questioningly. “Can I help you Y/N?”
“I knocked to see if you were in.” You explained, “I guess you didn’t hear me.”
He remained unmoving for several seconds, his eyes trained on the papers in front of him and after he placed the page down he allowed his gaze to briefly flicker towards you. “I heard it.”
Taking a few steps towards into the office, you took note of the cold atmosphere surrounding him but decided against commenting. “Why didn’t you answer?” You asked instead, placing his favourite meal on his desk.
“I was busy.” He deadpanned, eyes glued on the new page in front of him.
Your gaze drifted across his large frame, “When was the last time you slept?” You inquired, noting the dark circles on the skin surrounding his turquoise eyes.
“I took a little nap some few hours ago.”
A frown took form on your lips. “A nap in your office doesn’t count. When was the last time you got over five hours of sleep in your bed.” You urged, your frustration growing at his dismissive attitude.
He sighed, laying his papers on his desk with a loud ‘slap’ and looking up at you with a slight glare. “What is it you came for Y/N, unlike you I’m busy.”
“I’m here to check up on you Al Haitham.” You felt your aggravation grow in spite of your efforts to remain level-headed. “You’ve been working non stop and I’m worried about you.”
“Well, as you can see Y/N I’m perfectly well. Now, if you would kindly leave my office—“
“Why are you being like this?” You finally sighed, your patience beginning to waver.
“Because I have work to do. I don’t have time to laze around with you.”
“Laze around with me?” You echoed. “I may not be the Acting Grand Sage, Al Haitham, but that doesn’t mean I’m not working. I stop what I’m doing every day just to see if you’re alright…because Archons know that if I don’t, you’d be skipping meals daily!”
“I’m not some child Y/N, I don’t need you to look after me, now if you would please leave my office, I’m wasting time with this discussion.”
“How on earth do you think it’s right to treat people like this?” You snapped, the festering heat in your chest reaching its peak. “I’m worried about you because I care!”
“If you really cared…” He rose from his seat, approaching you with a steadiness that left you uneasy. “you would have left Y/N instead of wasting my time!”
His last words echoed throughout the room, but what was truly deafening to the man was your reaction —the way you stepped away from him as if preparing to flee.
Groaning at his actions, he lifted a hand to his already dishevelled hair in a poor attempt to calm his racing mind but watched in horror as you flinched.
Disgust soon washed over him like a tidal wave.
You thought he would hurt you?
Archons, he did hurt you… though not physically. It dawned on him that he had been treating you abrasively for the last few months, yet you still remained nothing short of kind and patient towards him.
He didn’t deserve you, he thought, yet a part of him selfishly feared that you’d leave him after today.
“I’m sorry.” He sighed, and although his voice had grown soft, his eyes trembled with unspoken words of guilt and regret, the sight stubbornly pulling at your heart until you bridged the gap between the two of you and quietly took him into your arms.
He hesitated to reciprocate, worried that he’d cause you more alarm, but all it took was you tightening your hold around his torso for him to wrap his arms around you, settling his head against the crook of your neck.

Synopsis | When you flinch away from him during an argument.
Arguments with Cyno were rare, to say the least. The both of you often found an agreeable compromise before the argument even started, but today was different. Today was a cold reminder of what his work as a Matra entailed and after having his many wounds disinfected and bandaged you packed away your medical kit with your lips set in a firm line. He was tired, that much was visible in the way his eyes drooped every few seconds, but the man still found the willpower to haul himself up and stride toward the door.
~~
“And where do you think you’re going, General Mahamatra?” Your voice cut through the otherwise silent room with a steady firmness, forcing the man to turn to you, stunned. You never used his title.
“I need to report back-“ He started, his initial shock quickly fading as he turned towards the door again.
“You can do that later. You need to rest your body before you end up tearing your wounds open.” You moved to catch up with him, barricading the door with your frame.
“I’ll rest when I come back.”
“No, you’ll rest now. Patience is a virtue that those old geezers should have mastered by now, they can wait, Cyno."
With a deep sigh, the white-haired man attempted to sidestep you, grunting out a small, “But I can’t.” as he moved, although, he hadn’t gotten far before you were in front of him again -hands stubbornly placed on your hips to hide their slight tremble.
“Cyno, you’re being irrational, I’m not requesting this of you because I’m the bleeding mass of bandages, you are. If you so desperately need to hand in those reports then I’ll go for you. Surely that will be satisfactory?”
“It’s not about satisfaction Y/N.” He groaned, “I have orders to receive and several other pressing issues to discuss, so I need you to step aside.”
“It’ll all be for nothing if you pass out on your way to the Academia, so I need you to turn on your heel, head back into the ward and lie down -please. I don’t want to see you bleeding any longer than you already have.”
The two of you remained unyielding as the argument continued to escalate -your eyes occasionally drifting back to the largest gash across his chest, while his to the exit.
Cyno could have sworn his urgency was visible by now, but his irritation only flared when he saw no end to your relentless demand. His hand itched to twist the door handle just a few feet behind you but he remained rooted where he was, crimson eyes beginning to burn with aggravation knowing that you were right.
The general knew he needed to rest, he had been in this type of situation many times before but those damned Sages were far more painful to deal with than the wounds on his body and that was a truth he couldn’t admit while that Akasha was still nestled against your ear.
To calm his racing mind, he raised a calloused hand to his face, ready to rub the bridge of his nose but froze when he saw your body curl into itself at the motion of his hand.
You flinched, he thought.
You flinched away from him.
He made you feel unsafe.
Your eyes widened, reflecting his, at the disbelief of your very own actions.
“I didn’t mean to Cyno, I don’t know what came over me-“
“I apologise.” He stated, head cast low as if trying to make himself seem less intimidating. “It was never my intention to make you feel afraid, I swear. I’d never hurt you.”
Your mind reeled at the sight as you raced to take him into your arms. “It’s ok, I know you wouldn’t. It’s just stressful having to see you come here so hurt and knowing that you still have more work to do -it’s just the stress, Love. It’s just the stress."
You repeated the words like a mantra -pleading that they carry the rightful certainty that he needed.
He returned your embrace after much time passed -although he held you far more lightly than he usually did. “I’ll go back with you.” He breathed, “I’ll see the Sages tomorrow morning.”
Author’s Note | I honestly had fun writing this. Also, my request box is open!
CT/TW | Brief mention of sleep deprivation and Reader studies under Haravatat.
“Add some suji halwa from Jut and a spiced coffee from Puspa and you’ve got yourself a deal.”
Leave me alone~” You groaned, burrowing yourself deeper into the duvet -it smelt of him…that or you had just caught a whiff of his shampoo as he flung himself onto you, “Kaveh!”
“Y/N!” He mocked, “It’s eight already, if you sleep any longer you’ll miss the grand opening.”
He paused, watching as you refused to move an inch, eventually curling into his warmth before he violently shook the bed resulting in a muffled sound of complaint from beneath him. “C’mon, N/N, you can take a nap when we get back.”
“Baby,” you sighed, propping yourself up with your free arm to face the blond who now sat beside you. “I love you, truly I do, but I think some form of compensation is well overdue for making your Haravatat girlfriend help with your Ksharewar project. I’m sleep deprived and functioning on 1001 coffees.”
“I’ll buy you a box of padisara pudding.”
“Add some suji halwa from Jut and a spiced coffee from Puspa and you’ve got yourself a deal.”
“When did you become such a hardcore bargainer!?” He squawked, already feeling his Mora dwindling.
“Irrelevant." You deadpanned. "Tick-tock, babes. Time’s flying and I’m dozing off here.”
Ironically, as if on cue, you found yourself stifling a yawn as you began to fall asleep only to be interrupted by a deep groan.
“Fine.” He sighed, rolling off of you with one of his theatrical pouts.
“Love you!” You called, lopsidedly grinning as you blinked the sleep from your eyes.
Dragging himself to the lounge, Kaveh left with mutters of Ormos merchants having nothing on your persuasive tongue.

He returned your embrace after much time passed -although he held you far more lightly than he usually did. “I’ll go back with you.” He breathed, “I’ll see the Sages tomorrow morning.”

You wanted to remain here. Within the comforts of the four walls, you deemed safe enough to return to every day when things never seemed to go your way.
You wanted to remain beside him, to hear his voice every morning and night, to read his texts with a painful smile splitting your lips and to support one another when the world was against you.
You helplessly held on to the dreams of a perfect ‘forever’ when you knew that everything on this earth had its end. Even that which seemed ethereal.
Ever so slowly the veil had been torn away, the skin peeled to reveal a haunted house, abandoned by its two owners who once nurtured the land with every ounce of love that they could muster, until there was nothing left.
Nothing left to give and nothing left to look forward to other than the resolution of every day’s new argument.
You hated it, loathed the coldness the silence brought and yet each night when you closed your eyes, you hoped to open them the next day with his arm wrapped snugly around your waist -just as you used to.
But, you never did.
Instead, you would wake to his slumped back sitting at the edge of his side, shutting you out, as if the memories you clung to were nothing more than the dust beneath his shoes.
It took a long time for you to finally fathom the helplessness of your love- unrequited now, but when he muttered out a solemn “Let’s end this.” one morning, it wasn’t long before he had stepped out of the door and out of your life completely.

His whisper carried a promise of love and he watched as you looked straight into his gaze -his still searching for your surety. "I would never, in all my lives, leave your side unless you want me to."
It was seldom at first; the way your smile would fall quicker than it had risen, but as time went on the dullness in your eyes became more prominent until Kaeya struggled to even find a semblance of the light that once shone within their depths.
He would ask you about it in his drunken stupor, wondering if he was the reason behind your forced laughs and now-quiet dinners, yet your response was always the same; you’d offer him a light peck to his forehead and a shake of your head, accompanied by a slight smile that never reached the curve of your cheeks.
Yes, he was intoxicated, but anyone could have easily noticed. The contrast between what was and what is was just too prominent. So he did everything in his power to restore your smile, leaving for work later after remembering that conversation some months ago about how you never really see him in the morning. Archons, he even reduced his drinking just to get home earlier, but nothing genuinely removed the shadows from your gaze.
He returned home much earlier than the new usual, hands filled with goods -ingredients for your favourite meal. Ready to surprise you with a day filled with the joy you so deserved, but when a distant sob followed the sound of the shutting door behind him, Kaeya was quick to find its source —you.
Staring into the listless reflection of yourself, the tears you so desperately endeavoured to wipe away replaced one another with a speed you just couldn’t comprehend.
In the next moment, you felt arms gingerly circling your waist —set on pulling you closer towards their body.
“I’m alri—”
A cool breath began to fan the length of your neck as he spoke.“Please don’t hide your suffering any more.”
Your voice was thick with tears and sorrow when you muttered a quiet apology.
“Tell me what I should do to make you happy again.” He pleaded, turning your body to face him.
Refusing to meet his begging eyes, your response was nothing more than a slight shake of your head.
“C’mon Starlight. I’m sure we can get through this together. I hate seeing you hurt.”
The hands that once rested on your hips moved to cup your chin, his thumbs gently wiping away the last of your tears as you leaned into his touch, your own hands moving to hold his own.
You felt the light pressure of his forehead against yours before he moved to kiss the lines beneath your eyes. “If you truly don’t want to tell me that’s ok, but please, let me do something to help you, Y/N.”
With a slow breath of air filling your lungs, you finally caved into his soft caresses. Your lips splitting as you prepared to speak, and Archons when you did, Kaeya felt his heart ache.
“I can’t stand myself anymore,” You admitted, tears welling in your eyes once more.
The captain wasn’t a fool, oh he was well aware of the rumours floating between the gossip mongers of Mondstadt: how he had left his last lover for being too insecure.
It was a complete lie spun by a spiteful ex and no one ever cared enough to verify the stories, as a result, the rumour changed with every mouth it came into contact with until Kaeya was shocked to find out that he had left all eight -a completely false number as you were his third lover- of his exes because he couldn’t tolerate their insecurities.
“You heard the rumours?” He asked, taking a step back to get a good look at your face, but your silence was all he needed to confirm his suspicion.
“Tell me Starlight,” He whispered as he rotated you again. Eye set on your downcast one, “What don’t you like about yourself?”
“I swear I won’t leave you for not loving yourself.” he added when he saw the way your eyes flickered between his and your reflection.
You studied yourself with a hardness that was chillingly similar to the way Kaeya used to scrutinise himself; rooting a deep sadness within his chest at the sight. He waited for you to speak, allowing you to take your time.
When you eventually spoke, telling him of all the features you now disliked about yourself he was quick to list their beauties and perfections, why he adored your so-called flaws and just to prove his points he made sure to tell you of his fondest memories related to the things that caused your self-loathing until you were left flustered.
You finished breathlessly. Silently listening as Kaeya asked you to point out at least three things you liked about yourself as he allowed his fingers to run across the surface of every feature you named.
Your list grew -only to feel the blissful sensation of his skin against yours and when you were done he turned you around with a soft smile and lowered his head again until you were a mere breath apart.
"Should I continue?"
His whisper carried a promise of love and he watched as you looked straight into his gaze -his still searching for your surety. "I would never, in all my lives, leave your side unless you want me to."
