Been working on a little brochure style portfolio of some of the marketing projects I’ve worked on in the past. If nothing else, I could make one every couple of years and keep a little catalogue for myself!
Invite design from today at work. This will be sent to customers that are being invited to join the Videcon table at the ‘Once Upon A Smile’ Grand Ball event. More info on the event can be found here. The charity offers much needed bereavement support to families and especially children, so it’s warming to know my employers support such a worthy cause.
My super duper quick “Valentails” cards for two of the animals that are currently in the care of the RSPCA Halifax & Huddersfield District!
Charlie the cat is 12 years old and was brought in as a stray - I met him at the Christmas fair and he’s so laid back and lovely, I really hope he finds a home soon! Bruce I haven’t met, but according to the website he is a 10 year old crossbreed that came in as a cruelty case. He’s had an operation to hopefully save his eye and I couldn’t tell from the picture if he had both his ears or not.
I’m dropping my home made cards in tomorrow with some dog food, so maybe I will get to meet Bruce!
If you want to donate to the centres “Valentails” campaign, you can do so here, and help show these animals they can be loved. If your interested in Bruce, Charlie, or any of the other animals currently up for adoption, check out the website. On a design note, these were rushed, but I really like the rough look you can achieve with the pencil tool in illustrator with blocks of colour - I just wish I had a bit more control over it, which I think is the difference between my child like attempts and much better design... but I’m sure the animals won't mind my sloppy work on this occasion!
Apparently it’s #PenguinAwarenessDay! Now, I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty aware of Penguins. I know they exist, I’ve seen some Blue Planet episodes. But there is certainly no harm in having a random excuse to talk about, think about or look at Penguin related things! So here are some fun and interesting facts about Penguins that emphasise why there’s no harm in being ‘Penguin Aware’ 1) Many (but not all) Penguins choose a mate for life - how cute is that? They will often stay with the same mate until they die - but have been observed “cheating” whilst the other raises the young. Cheeky Penguins. 2) There are between 17 and 19 species of penguin, ranging in weight from 2 - 80lbs! 3) Some Penguins can swim up to 15mph in pursuit of their tasty fish dinner! 4) Climate change is having a devastating effect on the habitat of some of these Penguins - especially the Emperor Penguin in Antarctica. Experts predict the population of Emperor Penguins could decline by 50% in the next 40 years if the sea temperatures rise as they are expected too. Have a wonderful #PenguinAwarenessDay / Friday.
That’s me done for Christmas! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2017!
So here’s some screen grabs from the festive stuff I’ve done at work - most importantly, it’s about the Christmas Video that we released to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust! We send the video out to customers instead of traditional Christmas cards, donate the money we would have spent on them to charity and encourage our customers to do the same! It’s great to be so heavily involved in doing a project (which I filmed and edited) with a charitable aspect. Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity close to my heart, as they supported me throughout and after my own cancer treatment, so I absolutely love being able to do something with work to support the charity like they supported me. Teenage Cancer Trust have seen and shared the video themselves as they loved it! Watch the Video here: https://vimeo.com/193360144 And if you like, please consider a donation to Teenage Cancer Trust here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Videcon-2016-Christmas-Video Thanks! And if I don’t post again before... Have a GREAT Christmas!
Last week I went on a course with Academy Class and did their ‘Zero to Hero’ Premiere Pro training. This course consists of their Yellow Belt 101 and Green Belt 201 Premiere Pro courses, plus the Adobe Certified Associate Exam - Which I passed! The course was good for me - I’ve been stuck bad habits and using After Effects for more than I should, but having now picked up Premiere Pro and been taught methodically how to use it, my work flow will be much more efficient!
www.racheltitherington.com Earlier this year I made a website for myself/some work. It was just for fun really (No, really! I’d had a lot of fun working on a similar website at work and wanted to do a personal one) so I’ve not actually shared it until now.
Happy Halloween!! 🎃👻 This year I was super happy with my pumpkin, but didn't like my Halloween picture. Ah well! Now time to get excited for Christmas...
Some recent landscape photos from my recent trip to North Wales!
Daily Designs!
I’ve decided to sit down and quickly do a design-a-day everyday - without thinking too much into it. For example, I decided not to wait until the start of the month to begin doing them, I decided not to make a detailed plan of what I’d do every day and to not decide on a theme, goal or purpose - which for someone as overly organised as myself is quite a challenge in itself. I’ve decided to not even wait until I’ve done a set amount before I start posting, so I’ll probably just post a few every few days for as long as I keep it up (again, not even set a determined length of time to do it, but I want to try keep it up for at least a month)
I’m doing this for all the reasons above - I usually spend way too much time thinking and planning, rather than doing - and whilst that gives me certain qualities (organisation, research, planning...) I want to also work on just getting on with things. Sometimes I procrastinate, thinking that if I plan ahead, the end results will be better, which is usually true, but unnecessary sometimes.
I’m sure there will be plenty of things that will be no good and I won’t be particularly proud of, but the that’s almost irrelevant to the purpose of the exercise! I’ll be glad if, as the days go on, I’m doing more and more things that I personally like. I’m hoping it get the creative juices flowing and wakes me up in a morning!
East Keswick Village Hall Beer Festival Ticket
The ticket design I’ve done for a Beer Festival taking part in East Keswick on October 1st, which is a charity event in aid of Parkinson's UK!
(There is a back but has Sponsor Logos and ticket holder information on so not posted)
Those arranging the event liked the design so much, they asked for variations to use for posters and leaflets, which is cool! Had fun doing this, if anyone else needs ticket/flyer/poster designs for events,
get in touch

A while back I was asked to create some football players as caricatures (to be made into vinyl stickers to go on to kids bedroom walls) specifically Argureo and Kompany of Manchester City.
Was much happier with the photos I got at my nephews Baptism this weekend compared to the work event in my last post. Still an issue with grain from high ISO but was more aware of my lens choices (and had more natural light which helped!) I was also happy with my mix of candid and posed photos. Here's a few of them.
Went down to London last week to photograph a trade show and bowling event that my work were attending. Whilst I was happy with some of the images in terms of composition and timing, I wasn't happy with them on a technical level. I misjudged what lenses and aperture to use, compensated the lack of light with too high of an ISO level, and some other rookie mistakes. Whilst I'm glad I instantly recognised what I'd done wrong, I'm disappointed in myself for making the mistakes in the first place. My entire photography training background includes internet searches and only one days one-on-one training, so it's not a surprise to me that I need more training. And practise
