She was facing Cinder and the next moment she felt herself falling.
She heard the growls, the thuds of metal against flesh, even metal against bone, the bubbling sound of monsters disappearing from earth, all of it echoed in her ears like the most beautiful choir she could hear.
Yes, it was the sound of success.
But it wasn't her own success.
Her feet weren't touching the ground at that moment, and regardless of her own battle experience, this time she didn't do it on purpose. She felt lost in space and time, without control, not like before, and she had spent way too many years fighting and polishing her skills.
Her speed always saved her from those situations.
But now it wasn't working.
Why?
She saw a dark hand with those pale claws hooked on her shoulder, digging into her skin. She couldn't escape. She even felt her skin burning, wounded probably, she didn't know. Her eyes could only see the demonic hand and the dark pool she was hopelessly falling into.
She closed her eyes, trying to make her body move, trying to run away, although she couldn't anymore, she was exhausted, she had been facing Cinder for a long time, longer than ever. She was shocked when she saw the woman still alive, with her amber eyes full of anger and thirst for revenge.
There was a burning hate from both sides.
She just wanted to get rid of her, make her pay for what she had done to her friends. To her family. To her school. To her kingdom.
She missed the comfort of Crescent Rose weight in her hand. Without her scythe there was little she could do to escape that inevitable fate. A certain death.
But when had she lost her weapon? She didn't remember.
Her body tensed when her boots finally got into that viscous liquid, and then her legs, as well as the rest of her body. Little by little.
Yeah, it was like falling in slow motion. Tortuously slow.
She even wished that this fall, to that sea of the underworld, was faster, that way that feeling of helplessness will end quickly.
But It didn't.
