I love going viral on tumblr.com. It’s like if you stood in a field and said some of the stupidest shit a human being is capable of and then like fifty thousand crows attacked you
Don’t do this to me
my brother in christ you made the post
"these researchers published a paper on something that literally any of us could have told you 🙄" ok well my supervisors wont let me write something in my thesis unless I can back it up with a citation so maybe it's a good thing that they're amplifying your voice to the scientific community in a way that prevents people from writing off your experiences as annecdotal evidence
they did the research in the first place because they believed you and wanted to tell people about it. they are not our enemies.
people always go "Instead of spending all that time on a study they could have just listened to us when we said these thing happen"
they did listen, that's how studies work, they asked people about their experiences and put all the data together in a nice package that can be cited
PSA:
"Deconstruction" does not (necessarily) mean "Adding a bunch of sex and violence and drug use and suicide to a work to make it grimdark"; it means, essentially, "foregrounding the implicit contradictions in a work by making them explicit in the text to showcase and critique their ideology in the wider culture."
So, for example "Watchmen" was deconstructive because superhero comics up to that point had, by and large, not really interrogated their own role with respect to things like the military-industrial complex or the rather sordid real-life history of vigilantism in the United States or the sexual psychology of an individual dressing up in (essentially) bondage gear and going out to beat people up on the street. The sex and the violence serve a thematic purpose. It doesn't become more deconstructive by adding *more* sex and violence to it; it depends on what was in (or left out of) the original work.
That's why the best superhero deconstruction in the last 20 years was Lego Batman.
Love the soft, curious moments of them sharing about their own cultures, biology, etc. I do think Rocky would have a field day when Grace explains skin as a very sensitive and permeable organ with lots of stuff packed tight on the surface. Since goosebumps are very tactile, I thought Rocky would enjoy hearing those.
Also, bonus.
Because it is endlessly entertaining to me to consider how deep in the trenches Rocky is.

I need humankind to unknowingly spawn xenophilia kinks across the universe. The energy I'm bringing to the table is the energy of the first human to enthusiastically shake hands with a Vulcan in front of the whole Vulcan delegation.
I’ve never been a fan of the this character doesn’t exist unless the Player Hand of God bestows life on them type of gameplay.
Which is why I loved that Origins didn’t do that. All the origin stories are still canon no matter which one you choose.
Didn’t play as a City Elf or a Human Noble? Doesn’t matter, those events still happened and the guards at Howe’s estate will still talk about “the elves to broke in here” and some of the guards will still allude to the “take over” at Highever. And you will still see the battered body of Ser Gilmore in Fort Drakon.
Didn’t play as a Mage? Doesn’t matter. The event with Jowan still happened. He still managed to escape and get caught up in Loghain’s plot. And the Warden will encounter him no matter their Origin.
Didn’t play as a Dwarf Noble? Doesn’t matter. What happened to Aeducan will be eluded to (though the character gets defaulted to male for some reason). And you will still find Gorim in Denerim selling DWARVEN CRAFTS! FINE DWARVEN CRAFTS! DIRECT FROM ORZAMMAR!
Didn’t play as a Dwarf Commoner? You will still encounter Leske imprisoned in the cell in the Carta Hideout. Along with a dead body. That Leske talks about as his friend who didn’t make it.
Didn’t play as a Dalish elf? Well, during Witch Hunt, Ariane will talk about encountering a fellow clan where two hunters found a mirror - one got sick and died, while the other vanished. Not to mention that Hawke will meet up with the Warden’s clan in Dragon Age 2.
The details might change, but the overall story is still there. Tabris will break in or be taken into the Arl’s estate. The attack on Highever still happens. Mahariel still got sick from the eluvian. Surana and/or Amell still helped Jowan trying to escape. Aeducan will still get exiled to the Deep Roads. Brosca will be taken by the Carta. All of those things are canon.
So that’s what I’m headcanoning for DA:I. The other characters were still at the Conclave. All you did as the player was pick who survived, like in Origins. Cadash and Lavellan still went there to spy. Adaar still went there with their mercenary group to acts as enforcers/guards. Trevelyan still went there either as a Templar recruit or a mage from the Circle.
Their stories are valid. They still existed. And they could potentially have been the Inquisitor if fate (or the player) had willed it.
It is a shame that this didn’t continue in later games. Inquisition never did this. It would’ve been cool of each and every origin was alluded to in the game, but that never happens. Your origin or the other origins are barely mentioned.
And the main catalyst that set everything in motion? In Origins you play through Ostagar, but in Inquisition? It’s a fancy little title screen. Which honestly, for me, meant that the game started with disappointment. I wanted to play through that

All these industries with shortages of workers and they can’t figure out why.
Im proposing the hypothesis that the reason we don’t have enough doctors/pilots/bus drivers/etc is that maybe, just maybe, having your entire industry function as a lifelong hazing ritual isn’t the best recruiting strategy.
Doctors are subject to 8 years of post-secondary education and are forced to work 48 hour shifts.
Pilots and other transportation workers have absurd hours of service requirements that start your rest period as “the moment you shut the vehicle down” and can be as short as 9 hours in some cases.
Railroad workers have to be available on-call 6 days a week and be ready within two hours notice. They don’t get sick time.
Retail workers have to keep a veneer of politeness against any and all abuse or they can be fired.
Truck drivers get paid by mileage and rarely see pay for shipper or receiver delays.
Work should not be designed to make you a miserable burnout and yet here we are.
The thing about Miss Piggy is that she kind of has a Roger Rabbit comedy superpower where she wins nearly any conceivable fight she's in. But unlike other characters of which that's true, like say, Bugs Bunny, who tend to win because they make the opponent play the game with their rules, Miss Piggy wins because the joke is that she can beat the shit out of literally anybody.
Bugs Bunny beats Thanos by setting up an airport and making him take off the Infinity Gauntlet to go through the metal detector.
Miss Piggy beats Thanos by karate chopping him in the face and sending him flying.
"what if someone regrets transitioning" if you are 18 or over in free country usa you can walk into any tattoo parlor and ask for a tattoo that will be on your body forever and ever and ever and they will give it to you with the understanding that if you dont like the result or you regret it later that's your fucking problem and not theirs
