Kripke is projecting a little too much on Sage, I think. Like,
Year 2008, the character Castiel is introduced as a minor character that will (not) only stay for a few episodes. Except, he invents free will. And through (gay) love is the script forever changed. This was very unpredictable for Kripke.
Year 2026 (holy shit, that's a lot of time), and the smartest (in-universe) person's plans are forever changed because Soldier Boi (played by the actor of Cas' love interest) acts due to love (?) (idek), which was very unpredictable for Sage.
