ok i’ve seen a few of these but these are some of my headcanons for lady noire and mister bug
edit: damn, i really cannot write just quick headcannons (or is this an au?). this was supposed to only be a few bullet points but uhh, that didn’t really work out. whoops.
they were given the wrong miraculous by accident
because fu just really isn’t the best at his job let’s be honest
but it ends up working out way better than expected
marinette needs to let lose a little bit
and everyone adores mister bug
and he really needs to know that there are people out there who love him
the public calls them chat noire and ladybug/beetle (because why wouldn’t they if they never had a reason to distinguish them from og ladybug/chat noir like they did when they canonically swapped kwamis)
chat noire helps ladybug with his lucky charms a lot
he doesn’t necessarily need the help but the fight goes a lot faster (and there’s less destruction) when she helps
he needs a parental figure and she doesn’t hesitate to be one for him
when it’s late at night and he feels all alone she’s there to make sure he feels loved
on nights where he struggles to fall asleep she curls up in the crook of his neck and her warmth kills him to sleep
on the other nights she curls up in a little ball on his pillow
she doesn’t like being to far away from him because she wants to be there if he ever needs her
and to wake him from nightmares if she notices his breathing become to labored
she also always request macaroons from marinettes bakery
her and plagg totally want them to get together (though plagg denies it) and they try to put them in each other’s paths as often as possible
though they make sure to never go overboard (as much as they want them to get together they’re not risking the twos relationship as it is. paris needs them to be able to work together)
when marinette gives him a blue scarf for his birthday (because no way in hell is plagg letting marinette get away with chickening out of giving it to him when he had to watch her stay up late for the past two weeks to finish that stupid thing) he starts seeing her in a mew light
tikki is so excited she does a little flip in the air (pls i love her she’s so cute)
but he doesn’t collect pictures of her
with tikki’s guidance he’s able to understand that that probably isn’t the best idea
and while some people may find it flattering, it might scare marinette off
plagg is good for marinette
he’s able to calm her constant stress and worrying
when she starts panicking he’s able to make a simple comment or a throw away joke and suddenly she’s calming down again
and when that doesn’t work he curls up in her hair or hovers against her neck and purrs until she’s calmed down again
and when she starts staying up too late to work on a project or homework he’ll just snatch it from her hands and drag her by the pigtails to bed
“if your teacher doesn’t understand that you need actual sleep to function after she’s put so much of her workload on you (which i’m pretty sure she isn’t allowed to do we should look into that i don’t care that you’re the class president this should all be you’re responsibility you’re doing so much already) then i’ll make her understand. do you think the school administration would get suspicious if i were to cataclysm her desk?”
when adrien gives his umbrella to her in the rain (god it had been so long since someone had done a something nice for her like that without a reason. especially considering that adrien barely even knew her)
the feelings fade quickly however
because suddenly she has a crush on ladybug
though her feelings for adrien never entirely fade but were ignoring that okay. if we don’t think about it the feelings don’t exist. this is a great plan and will definitely not come back to bite her on the ass. 100%
when she starts to have romantic feelings for ladybug plagg is the first person she confides in (sorry alya but the pocket god gets priority on this one)
he’s able to help her see him in a reasonable manner instead of putting him on a pedestal
instead of always stumbling over her words and barely being able to talk to him (which would have been a distasteful for paris and their team work) she can actually hold a conversation
though when he does something cute she gets all flustered and starts blushing and ladybug has to tell himself to ignore it because he has feelings for marinette, damnit and he’s not about to have to stress over having feelings for both of them so he shoves it down and it’s fine everything is f i n e
side note: plagg loves living in the bakery
he’ll eat any kind of cheese from there
yes wpeicially when they’re cooked into some kind of pastry
he’s not actually a cheese snob he just loved annoying adrien. it’s how he shows his love. he’s emotionally constipated okay??
plagg teaches marinette to say no
he’s not about to let people walk all over his holder just because she’s nice
he has a reputation to uphold okay?
this has nothing to do with the fact that he’s become attached to her. his holders are just that - holders. he has no other attachments to them okay? she is definitely not his kid he is a god, goddamit he doesn’t get attached to humans. humans are fragile and have a short lifespan and he’s not about to get attached to something that’s barely a blip in her seemingly everlasting life
tikki teaches adrien how to set boundaries
she took advantage of their childhood friendship (if you could even call it that)
she would use it to get him to hangout with her at lunch or try to get him to sit next to her in class
and she would touch him a lot
like holding his arm or giving him hugs and he just wasn’t comfortable with that
he may be touch deprived but he wasn’t that touch deprived, okay?
that’s another think tikki helped him with
she would constantly cuddle against him or give him hugs when they were alone
and when she was in his pocket she would snuggle up to his chest and, though he struggled to admit it to himself, her presence was always a comfort to him
it was hard for him to come to terms that one of the people who loved him most in the world was an ancient god that only one other person knew existed
the world views chat noire as a side kick
they see a man who’s able to create an object that can save the day out of thin air and is able to reverse all the damage and jump to conclusions
there’s a lot of press conferences where ladybug insists that chat noire is his partner and that they are equals, damnit but they’re not very effective
marinette faces a lot of sexism, especially from the media
the lady log covers both heroes (though mainly chat noire. alya loves that the world finally has a strong female hero and she is Pissed that the majority of france refuses to acknowledge that she is ladybugs equal)
chloe has an unhealthy obsession with ladybug
and she hates chat noire (she’s jealous of her relationship with ladybug. also she may have a bit of a crush on chat noire and is Deep within denial) and doesn’t hesitate to let the rest of the class know
especially when chat noire takes big hits for ladybug
because marinette would totally do that
she loves him and she can’t stand seeing him and danger and she thinks she’s expendable (which plagg is totally pisses about by the way) and she doesn’t hesitate to jump in from of ladybug in order to save him
ladybug hates that she’s so reckless
and adrien explodes on chloe during class one day after an especially nasty akuma that ended with chat noire loosing an arm and taking a nasty hit to the chest and she’s left bleeding out half to death alone in a random alley before ladybug is able to call for his cure and he can’t hold in his frustration when chloe makes some snide remark about how chat noire got sidelines again because she sucks at fighting
and adrien totally blames himself because he was e one who wasn’t paying attention and chat noire was there one who suffered for it
“god, chloe maybe if you actually payed attention to the actual battles instead of trying to find reasons to hate chat noire you’d know that she takes the hits for ladybug when he’s the one who’s not paying attention. if it weren’t for her hawkmoth would have won 20 times over by now. half the time she’s the one who comes up with the plan anyway and i’m tired of you bashing her when she’s done more for paris than you could ever wish to accomplish. stop projecting your own issues onto her. you’re better than that. or at least i thought you were.”
marinette definitely doesn’t have to hide her face in her hands because her face is so red that she can feel the heat radiating from it because she definitely Does Not have Feelings for adrien agreste because her heart belongs to ladybug, okay? this isn’t happening. if she ignores it it isn’t happening. this is a great plan, marinette. this will totally work
