His father was pressing him to consider non-military options? Do they mean Iroh? As in his commanding officer who placed him on the front lines of the war he gleefully waged? That guy? The same Iroh who continued to encourage children to fight the biggest battles of the war?

This sort of retroactive change always frustrates me.

Iroh feels guilty for Lu Ten’s death specifically because he put his son in that position. It’s a huge driving force behind why Iroh now wants to discourage Zuko from throwing his life away the same way.

Now we are expected to believe General Iroh, the Dragon of the West, always worried about his son going to war and tried to discourage him?

Sure seems to contradict something important, doesn’t it?

i'm honestly getting tired of these changes of the canon to make characters look better. Iroh is reasonably criticized by a part of the fandom that refuses to accept his "funny uncle" personality because of the crimes he committed and who he was before lu ten's death, which is fine, because it mirrors the fact that in-universe there is a lot of people that never forgave him either. This seems like an attempt to establish that he was always this good guy he is now to convince this other part of the fandom. Makes all his arc make NO sense.

I hate the mcu-ification of atla. Milking this series is a terrible idea. Avatar shouldn't be a franchise

Look, i am excited about the older gaang movie because i just miss them so much, but it's extremely possible that the movie is gonna be bad

And there are rumors that we are getting a new series after Korra, we are so fucked…..

We all know damn well that whatever they're gonna do with all these new projects will not even come near the brilliance of the original. They're all just set up to disappoint expectations and end in failure right from the start

i just don't understand where they're going with avatar anymore, we haven't gotten another trilogy in years, mako's comic got delayed too much, there are games here and there, not to mention the failed gacha.

atla was good enough to end in kataang's kiss (even if teen romance isn't my cup of tea, it just works as an end because the war is over, which is the point of the show) the trilogies just... exist? the world post war was interesting but I didn't find them enjoyable (and I hated what they did to azula, a Zuko fanboy should never write her again) tlok was good on paper but they clearly didn't know how to develop korra without torturing her in the most twisted way possible.

the only good thing that came out were the novels (I just read kyoshi's, I have to read the rest) because it's interesting to develop what happened before aang. I have really low hopes for the movies, but I'm willing to be proven wrong here.

I’m convinced the IP holders don’t even know what to do with the franchise.

It’s a mess. They’ve announced a bunch of projects but we have no trailers or art. They ended a mobile game only to start up a new one. There’s supposed to be movies and shows on the way but all we’ve gotten are shovelware video games not worth the cost to print them, and the TTRPG.

Mismanagement is the culprit here. And it’s been the culprit since the show ended. The people who made ATLA amazing are gone. We are left just with the two showrunners and whatever teams they can manage to put together.

Add to this an entertainment industry that is increasingly obsessed with cinematic universes and milking every last bit of any even semi-popular and nostalgic IP, and here we are!

How I wish we could save this IP from this mess.

Why would you say this to a victim who suffers from colonization, stereotypes, having to watch around his surroundings being burned to crisp even his people and just wanted people to stop being violent towards to other people because it doesn't make any things better to an imperlistic, genocidal, racist, colonizer?? Who ─ by the way, possibly took over Lambak Clan and destroyed its beauty after Roku's death and made a negative impact on the rest of the world.

You guys make me genuinely SICK. For a lovable and life-changing show, some of you all tend to be too kind on the Fire Nation and terribly, horrid towards those who were opressed by the Fire Nation.

Note: Randy Ribay is Filipino. Philippines was not only colonized once but thrice by different countries. He had definitely poured all his soul into writing the story because he handled the subject with care.
