also, like, i do not care one bit about Antoninus Pius, but if the worst you can say about a Roman emperor is “his reign was really boring,” I think he’s doing pretty well

Injunction says feds must keep renewing permits for DACA recipients.
!!! BREAKING NEWS!!!
“Injunction says feds must keep renewing permits for DACA recipients.”
FYI for those who need, this decision means that anyone who had DACA BEFORE Sept. 5th 2017 can apply for a renewal. You can also submit an application if your DACA status is expiring in the future.
However, this decision does not allow new applications - meaning those who have never applied for their permit before.
More information for DACA recipients:
1. The DACA program WILL remain with the same terms and conditions that were in effect before it was rescinded in Sept. 2017.
2. There will be NO new applications from applicants who have never received DACA.
3. Advance parole will not continue for anyone.
4. It’s still unclear if you can resume applying for work permits as it is run by the Department of Homeland Security and no word has been released. Though, the administration said they will be challenging the decision.
5. it will take some time for USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) to restart the process of reviewing and approving renewal applications. So keep an eye out and contact immigration services in your area if you need.
6. This will most definitely continue in the courts, meaning the final decision is still unknown so don’t expect this to be a permanent solution. Continue to call your representatives to support a clean Dream Act, keep talking about it, etc.
!!! Jan. 14, 2018 UPDATE !!!
The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has officially released their guidelines regarding this court ruling. DACA recipients can now apply for renewals but MAKE SURE to read the guidelines and follow them thoroughly. There will still be no new applications being processed or advance parole.
If you previously received DACA and your DACA expired on or after Sept. 5, 2016, you may still file your DACA request as a renewal request. Please list the date your prior DACA ended in the appropriate box on Part 1 of the Form I-821D.
If you previously received DACA and your DACA expired before Sept. 5, 2016, or your DACA was previously terminated at any time, you cannot request DACA as a renewal (because renewal requests typically must be submitted within one year of the expiration date of your last period of deferred action approved under DACA), but may nonetheless file a new initial DACA request in accordance with the Form I-821D and Form I-765 instructions.
Here’s the information from the USCIS in English and in Spanish. It has links to the forms you need, but it may be helpful to go to services that help with DACA filing if you can.
ALSO
Trump had a meeting about DACA this morning and there appears to be no progress. Trump claimed DACA is “probably dead” over Twitter and that it will “take desperately needed money away from our Military.” He has vowed to sue over this court ruling so if you need to submit your application, or know someone who does, do it as soon as possible.
Tomb Figurines, Buried Mystery
Tang Tri-colour Glaze Pottery, the Last Golden Age
In 589 A.D., the Sui Dynasty united China.
Twenty-nine years later, the Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D.) was established, ushering in one of the most prosperous periods in China’s history.
This color-painted figurine was uncovered in a cave near Qianling, the mausoleum of the most legendary woman in China’s history – Wu Zetian (624-705 A.D.), the only empress in China’s history. These colored figurines show the empress’s preference for bright colors like gold, white and green.
In the Tang Dynasty, with the development of porcelain making skills, colored figurines replaced the comparatively less delicate pottery figurines.
But they were glossed over by another precious artwork - Tang Tri-colored Glazed Pottery, or Tang San Cai, which was named after the reddish brown, green and yellow glazes applied to the earthenware body.
Even today, the Tang Dynasty is still a legendary paradise for many Chinese people. Along with the fall of the dynasty, the tomb figurines came to a decline and finally disappeared in the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Yet, the glamour of those artworks is still captivating.

Can i note that, in addition to being beautiful there is a poetic practicality to the cone/ovoid shapes since in a arid environment, it massively decreases surface area and allows less sunlight to hit the tops of the buildings and therefore keeps the insides cooler, while the circular floor plan makes it more efficient to heat during cold nights

1,600-year-old church mosaic puzzles out key role of women in early Christianity
A newly uncovered mosaic in the western Galilee speaks to the relatively high status of women in the early Church. Dating to the 5th century, a Greek-language inscription memorializes one “Sausann” (or Shoshana) as a donor for the construction of a village church. It is one of seven inscriptions — including a massive five-meter long text — which were found in three Byzantine churches during this summer’s excavations by Kinneret College archaeologist Mordechai Aviam and historian Jacob Ashkenazi.
Unusual in a patriarchal society, the donor Sausann is credited in the inscription independently of any spouse or male guardian. This Sausann is thought to have been a woman of some standing, perhaps following in the footsteps of her presumed namesake, the female disciple Susannah, who was among the women named in Luke 8:3 who provided for Jesus “out of their resources.” Read more.
