Hey.
Go read The Creepy and The Freaky if you want a weird funny but also genuinely scary at times horror anthology manga where a rabbit in an Animal Crossing style village sells boxes containing "fears", each being its own horror story. it goes fun places and won't let go of my brain :3
This manga is a cognitohazard and I am its propegator
we gotta get back to torrent distribution, i just watched someone eat eight grand in bandwidth charges because they ran a direct-download piracy site with local file hosting through cloudflare. torrents were invented literally for this exact reason
torrents work like this
i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3
unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it
i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map
i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs
this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.
crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.
please learn to torrent
An expert guide to get started using torrentsTorrents are one of the most popular forms of file sharing on the internet, accounting for over
always use qbittorrent, do not use bittorrent or utorrent.
here's where to find it on windows 10
Hey, did you know archive.org has a bunch of free 90s shows you can stream?
The problem is finding them, since no one's organized them all in one place with covers and episode info. I'm trying to fix that with my new website.
It's in BETA right now, and all the content was just added today, so I've barely scratched the surface of what's out there.

Highlights from the Project Hail Mary director's commentary:
*SPOILERS!!!*
Grace waking up from the coma was the first shot they filmed for the movie! They wanted Ryan to feel eased into the character, and what better way to do that than have him play a character who can't remember who he is?
The little "GOOD LUCK!" note in sharpie that's written on Grace's sleeping bag was canonically written by the other astronauts on the I.S.S. before the Hail Mary crew got put into the ship. In real life, Phil and Chris wrote one word each. They said it was like "a blessing on the movie."
Ryan's most nerve-wracking day on set was when he had to shoot with the classroom full of children. Most of the kids were made up of the children of the film's crew members.
The scene where Grace looks through Yao and Ilukhina's photos is footage of him looking at and reacting to actual pictures of the actors with their loved ones.
When Grace calls Stratt to tell her that he and Carl figured out how to breed astrophage, Ryan is genuinely calling Sandra on her day off set, and her audio is her genuine reaction to the unexpected line: "Carl and I made a baby!"
"We like showcasing Ryland Grace's social anxiety while having a lot of people staring at him. LOL!"
Their intention for the space funeral scene was to have Grace convey that he was trying to ease his own sadness by making the dead people with him feel better about being dead :(
The markings on Rocky's body convey his mission patch, his rank in the crew, his wedding band, and his family crest.
Grace and Stratt's conversation on the boat is Grace asking her if they're allowed to be close friends, and the response from Stratt is no, they can't. This gets driven home in the karaoke scene. She understands the value of connection, a part of her wants it, but "Her love for people has to be suspended for her to do her job."
Rocky has different forward-facing faces for different thought processes! They named his "satellite dish" face, his "scrunched up thinking face", and his "monobrow face".
Direct quote: "I love how on the spectrum Rocky is." ROCKY AUTISTIC CODED CONFIRMED!
After Rocky recovers from his injuries: "As Rocky returns to the movie, the lights turn on. The warmth returns. It's like the day breaking."
Confirmed that when Grace and Rocky reunite, Rocky says to Grace, "You came back for me, question?"
They throw this out there for two seconds and do NOT expand on it, but according to Andy Weir, Stratt is imprisoned for life but somehow ESCAPES???
The Eridians built Grace an artificial tree in his enclosure because Rocky knew he liked trees
There's so much more they shared about film processes and the people who were behind making certain effects possible. I highly recommend checking out the commentary if you're able!

genuine question from someone who would rather chew their arm off than go to a public gym, and also doesnt have a lot of money: how do you safely get into strength training? are there youtube channels, apps (android), etc anyone recommends that makes it approachable and don't lean into diet culture / body shaming?
also the biggest thing that keeps me from working out is that I already have joint and spinal issues and moving the wrong way can fuck up a knee or a shoulder or my spine for days. I really don't want to injure myself, and have unwittingly done so before. resources that are extremely clear on exactly how to move and offer gentler / alternative ways to move for people with limited range are vital.
Okay, so this may not technically be strength training, but muscles are dumber than bricks and cannot tell the difference between your own bodyweight and actual weights.
So, may I recommend:
Hey everyone! My name is Hampton and my brand is Hybrid Calisthenics. You can find me by that name pretty much everywhere on social media.
He runs a YouTube channel where he goes over how to work your way up to more complex exercises (for instance, his pull-ups videos start with using a door jamb and moving your weight back and forth) so it's good for easing yourself into things.
You also don't have to fork out for expensive weights and such if you don't want to/can't. Substitute with stuff you either already have at home or can get from the supermarket and build up the weight you can exercise with. 500 gram cans of butter beans then 750 gram bottles of pasta sauce. 1 litre drink bottle then your 1.5 litre milk bottle. 3 litre bulk-buy bottle of laundry detergent. Etc. One of my dogs weighs 13 kilos and I pick her up on the regular (to her delight). One weighs 16 kg and I pick him up too (to his consternation and mild disapproval). You don't have to fit out some fancy home gym before you can start strength training.
I second Hybrid Calisthenics, that's the program I use. It's run by one guy who's taken it upon himself to make exercising more accessible and it's completely free! Each exercise has different variations based on your ability and each variation is further divided into different levels of difficulty so you can work up to where you want to be. If you can't do a single push up for example then this program will help you work up to the point where you can, and if you're a master of push ups then there are more advanced body weight exercises you can tackle so you can keep moving forward in your training without stagnating. The routine offers a full body workout with absolutely no equipment required for the beginning levels. The only reason you would need to buy anything is if you want to work up to a full pull up, at which point you would need actual pull up rings
Here's his actual website which I feel is easier to navigate than the YouTube channel on its own and organizes things in a way that's easy to understand. He explains everything you need to know about the routine and each individual exercise has both a text description and a video tutorial
@movementnudge
Someone recommended Darebee to me last year, and I've found all their illustrated strength training routines extremely helpful and easy to follow! The few I haven't been 100% sure about from the illustrations have had links to example videos on their Youtube, like this one:
On the main site you can filter workouts for whether or not you have access to equipment, as well as workout type, desired intensity, and which part of the body you want to focus on.
They also have collections that sort various exercises into groups, like stretches to aid with anxiety or digestion, or exercises you can do while sitting, or if you want to focus on training with a specific sport in mind.
And if you're the kind of person who likes to gamify things, they also have RPG workouts to help keep you motivated -- just go here and filter by "RPG Fitness" on the side menu.
AND! It's completely free, with no sign up necessary.
I'll sing the praises of Darebee forever.
Some D&D party is out there playing the coolest campaign ever.
I saw this when it was posted! Some highlights from the comments:
For everyone who ‘used to love reading’ but now hasn’t finished a book in years, you CAN get it back. Genuinely start bringing a book (preferably short and either fiction or a non fiction topic you already really enjoy) everywhere you go and when you have 5-20 mins waiting for the bus or at the doctors office or mechanic or whatever, get out your book and read it! You don’t have to finish it quickly or even read it often but it is so good for your brain and fun to get into the habit of reading more (and replacing being on your phone for those moments). Source: I read 0 books in 2023 and I’ve read 12 in the first 4 months of 2026
THIS!
Literally this.
And look at me. LOOK AT ME. I want you to get a specific type of book. I know OP said and you can ignore me but I promise this is so so helpful. Go purchase 60s-70s pulp fiction paperbacks of anything that interests you. In any condition. We are not going for aesthetics as long as the book holds together. They are everywhere! For cheap! Thrift stores, second hand book sellers, estate sales. And there are still books you can buy retail in a similar size (see the Green Knight reprint in the middle). We are going for size here - roughly 6.5in× 4in. These. Look at these.
They fit in almost every bag that I own. They are light. They are quick reads (this is important because task completion and those sweet sweet dopamine rewards will get you to pick up the next one).
Okay you have the books. NOW LISTEN TO OP. TAKE THEM EVERYWHERE! I am not kidding. Going to eat dinner with a friend and don't expect to have any down time? TAKE IT. Running errands? TAKE IT. Going to the doctor? TAKE IT. This is your phone now. You don't need to look at your phone when you're bored for 5 minutes. You have book.
Book lives in your bags now. Book goes where bag goes.
I go eat at restaurants I like by myself with a book. I go to the cafe. I go to the park. Book is for anywhere! Want to go somewhere but none of your friends can go? Book can go with you!
PLANES, TRAINS, AND BUSES. BOOK GOES WITH YOU.
I promise it gets easier. And this print style of books has helped me so much.
I still don't read like I did when I was a kid. It is still hard for me to sit for more than 20 minutes and read without switching my brain to something else. But I can reliably read 4-5 books every year. I read 8 books last year. I read 11 the year before that. And not all of them are these tiny guys. But 10 years ago, I was lucky to finish one book in a year, and I broke that with small bites.
I travel for work and spend a bit of time alone in pubs having dinner and I have found that if I'm on my phone people talk to me, but if I'm reading a book? I get left alone. Maybe someone will ask what the book is and then leave me alone. Bringing a book is great for being left tf alone
